Lifted crew cab dually. C to K conversion.

If you thought that the cross member was bad try it with the new motor mounts too, man what a pain, really nice set up, but a pain.

Awesome!!!!! I freakin' love this build. Keep up the good work, man, and keep the pics flyin'.

your just gonna use a ford tcase right?

ps thats totally badass... love crew cabs

Thanks

Ideally I would use a gm drop divorced 205. I do have a GM 205 and have been wondering about mixing and matching parts from a Ford 205. I really havent looked into it that much yet...That will be part of phase II though.

few things i have found .

2wd rear spring mounts will be 3" shorter so plan in 3" extra lift in 2wd to 4wd conversion for the rears . or swap in 4wd spring mounts.

frt shackle angle with no weight looked good. but i would have moved it back just a bit but oh well .

and if going divorced 205 find one out of a i.h. truck. thay used 205 divorced cases drop on pass side. but the best thing i found is the frame mounts for hanging them in. the i.h. frame is 34" wide just like 73-87 chevys at 34" . so slide it all in mark and drill holes and bolt up and go. and the tcase shifter is a bracket that bolts on the tranny with a rod to tcase.

good lookin swap out keep it goin.

i.h. truck? international harvester is my only guess

I'm glad you thought the shackle should have moved back a tad because I did move it back a bit from that picture.

I had KERT make me up some hangers just for that reason.

Thanks for the info man.
Got one more question for ya. I just acquired a set of spicer type lockouts, but I do not have the outer internal type spiral retaining ring. Any ideas where to find one(or two)?

Ive checked grainger and fastenal but there are so many different tolerances and measurements that it would be a whole lot easier to find a P/N.

here are those hangers. gonna get em in this weekend

Bed off. Rear hangers in. Goddam Rain. I tried to paint white behind the forward rear hanger so KERTs logo would pop. Good idea, dont know how well it worked though.

D-shaft

Anyone got any idea what I am going to have to do with the d-shaft? REmember its still basically a lifted 2wd. I'm want to drive it around for a while until I do start phase II. I'm thinkin I may be able to get away with droppin the bearing support.??

i think thats a 79 model grille, iirc it & 80(non silverado) are the only round lites that had the chrome grille around the turn signal

was 77 the only yr w/yellow trim, i thought they did that 2 yrs?

anyway ya put it, nice build..subscribed!

numbers dont match. builds over. jk new england hopes fat finger Pauly from Western< Ma. Damn Man

77 was the only year for yellow trim. and for the dshaft, why not just one long ass driveshaft?

that it matters but anyone know how to decode this?

Doh! Its the Vin :doah:

Here`s what I could find:

c - Chevrolet
c - 2 Wheel Drive
s - 454 - 4 - V8
5 - ?
7 - ?
b - ?
153927 - build sequence number

lift is in.

Gonna mess with the zero rate tomorrow. I think I am going to move the axle back 1"

The front spring is hitting the frame still, just under the hanger. Hopefully a shackle a bit longer will help without hurting caster.

Brian,

Your neighbors must be pretty cool to let you work in the street like that and not complain. In some neighborhoods, Code Enforcement would be show up the instant a floor jack hit the underside of the truck.....

Looks like you're going to get a perfect weather day today (Sunday), I'll expect to see some nice progress shots later on. :waytogo:
