Line output converter

:doah: You just had to do it... LOL I think I will go with the above lineout converter for the time being until I can set aside the needed money for a replacement head unit.

Somebody had to, right ?
The line converter should be fine for a basic system. Depending on what amp you will be running it might have output rca connections for adding a sub amp. The only thing I would look for with your sub amp is an external control knob to help adjust the bass level since you won't have any dedicated control through your deck.

X10. I never run a sub setup without sub preouts, or a remote gain knob.

If you HAVE to get an amp w/o remote gain, use one of these http://www.amazon.com/PAC-Remote-Amplifier-Level-Controller/dp/B0002J226O

And if you happen to get a Kicker amp, and need a remote bass knob, i have 2, brand new in package, that i will sell you for 1/2 cost if you PM me.

Hate to bring up more issues but do you really plan on running those polk speakers from the factory deck? Those speakers are built to run of a high powered amplifier at least like 60x4 rms @4ohms.. Running such low power can damage the speakers and over heat your radio. You would actually get a louder sound with your power from low rated speakers built to run of radios since they don't require as much power to move... If you can though I'd recommend running a 4 channel amp.. http://www.millionbuy.com/piodehp4100ub.html has everything you need and costs about as much as those fancy 6 channel converters.

He wants to run a DDIN stereo. Why would you say run a 4ch amp and then link to a deck?

What I planned on doing just to get by, is running my factory head unit into the line out converter to my polk amp listed above, then to my polk speakers.

Further down the road when I can afford the head unit I will run it straight to the amp(s)

I was suggesting getting an aftermarket deck in order to give you the 3 channel pre-outs required for a normal amplified speaker and subwoofer setup, you could split a single hi-lo converter to the amps and run the eqs on the amps but I wouldn't expect the best sound quality that route. I also didn't realize you already had plans to run a speaker amp...

Gotcha. Yep always the best route but unfortunately not always the cheapest route. I was I could hook up better deals on car audio equipment, but honestly nobody can beat internet prices. We were actually getting screwed by our distributors and found stereos on ebay for cheaper than we were getting them at cost.
