linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

so just saw a post on facebook about running a detroit trutrac and it looks like it was a terrible choice for the front axle. maybe i should order a front locker before a doubler?

For what it looks like you do with this thing, a locker would seem better yes.

found a yukon grizzly locker on facebook, trying to buy it. setting up gears again but with the ram mount is going to suck.

I still don’t have a doubler, but Detroit rear and welded front. I have yet to need a doubler, although I do want one.

i know, i really dont think i'll need one. bought the locker though.
i really just wanted the doubler for the 205 to do front digs, which i probably will hardly use also haha

So when I get the new locker, I should be able to just slap the ring gear on it, and put it in right? Assuming I measure from the ring gear mounting surface to the outside of the shims and it’s the same as the previous one.

I believe that you can just measure the backlash, then make sure that you get the same number with the new carrier.

That will get you close but not exact. It's much easier because pinion depth is the same but you will need to remeasure and dial it in.

You might have to adjust a thousandth one way or the other. Dial indicator before and after to make sure you have the proper tolerance.

Cut it out in that area..... Weld it back in when done. Or add bolts n plates so that section is removeable

Ah... I didnt go back and look lol. Just threw out the suggestion :D

My buddy had a 241 laying in his garage so I bought that from him for $40 to get the Escalade back together. How much slop should the chain have? I’m sure it’s fine, but is there a way to measure it?

Also might try getting the front end tore apart tonight and the new locker in sometime this week, just hard to justify a 2 hour drive to the shop after working 12-14 hours a day. But I really want to actually go wheeling soon

There’s a line up of about 10 LS powered pickups at work that they aren’t using anymore, just bought a 6.0/4l80 one for $400 :woot: only 302k miles!

So... gut it, cam, nitrous, try and run 10s?

Or throw my spare superduty under the front and 241 and beat the shit out of it?
