linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

Not my files, but finally got around to cutting one of these out. Hydro assist ram mount for a Dana 60. It was designed for an 05+ but will fit others. Works with stock tie rod location. Now just the rest of the superduty swap kit needs cut out...

Edit: back half welds to the axle, with welded in nuts or something, then the front part will bolt on and be removable to get the diff cover off

An update that almost has to do with the Escalade?

Picked up a Dana 80 with a bad spindle last night, have one more to go get next weekend.

Already have the 40 spline ARB, just need to go grab one of my 05+ superduties for the inner C and knuckles for the front axle.

For the rear axle I’m probably going to do the weld on unit bearing cups so I can run unit bearings on all 4 corners. Lots of companies make something similar. https://bustedknuckleoffroad.com/products/50295
I have a detroit for the rear that had a little bit of ring gear deflection, I was thinking about having the side gears cut out to 40 and having the case machined back flat.

should I stick with 5.13 gears or go to 5.38? 6.17?
I would like to be able to drive it eventually, so 5.13s looked about the best for RPMs at 70 and with the doubler it’s going to be way lower crawl ratio than before anyway.

this Dana 80 does have 4.10s and a limited slip if anyone is interested at all. I’d get rid of it cheap!

Have you thought about running the ARB in the rear to help with turning on the trail, and run the detroit in the front? Fast forward to 2:12 on this video for a good video
edit- or are you doing 4 wheel steering?

no rear steer idea anymore., would require redoing rear links
ideally 2 ARBs is the plan... but I have a wedding in 80 days I’m paying for and I’m supposed to buy a house before that too

I had also looked into the Auburn electric locker for the rear. Limited slip when open and spool when on. But Facebook seemed to shut that idea down

Interesting you brought this up. There's some guys on an Aussie wheeling YouTube channel I watch and they typically do a front locker before a rear locker in their rigs or a locker up front and a limited slip out back. They do run baby size tires though but they go through some crazy shit.

And now that I think about it, all my buddies building comp cars are doing spool front and ARB rear. I should just sell some more of my junk and get another ARB

Congratulations! And buying a house?! Wow, you and your beautiful bride should be very proud! I think I read she just received her nursing certificate as well? You guys have been busy!
EDIT we were both typing at the same time, lol.

Unrelated. But my fiancé passed her nursing exam Friday:D, in the minimum amount of questions, that was a stressful 48 hours waiting for the results :haha:
That’s the way it was when my did hers last year. Only 75 questions, but man the day or two it took to get results she was a big ol bitch sittin on pins and needles lol.

I forgot to mention my most recent purchase.
Duramax van! 470k miles, but my dad said it sounds great and runs and drives great. They just had the 4l85 so they were really really detuned. But would probably still be fun in a k5 and the 4l85 is easier to put a tcase on...

My boss decided he didn’t want to work today (3rd Friday in a row) so I went to a few local salvage yards and found an 05+ 60 without shafts for $200. Brought it back and started to disassemble it. Soaked one knuckle in muriatic acid and then put it in some spinning sand blaster cabinet he has.

Before I cut the inner C’s off I’m going to measure from the spline to the edge of the inner C. then I’ll just put the inner C’s the same distance on the Dana 80 and be able to use stock superduty length shafts. That makes sense right? Rhodes Diffs on Facebook sells 40 spline 1550 shafts with u joint for like $1500 or less

So.. now the dilemma. The front axle will need one side retubed to be wide enough obviously. But the rear would need both sides retubed if I want to run weld on unit bearing cups. BUT if I just throw superduty C’s and knuckles on it there’s just enough room on the tubes after cutting the spindles off

So the dana 80 sticks down about 6.75” from center of tube. A Dana 60 is about 6 inches. I could cut off the bottom inch of the 80 and weld on a 1/4” piece of AR and be roughly the same ground clearance as a 60, ish. But the lower lip on this 80 is mostly hollow and holds a small amount of oil. I don’t see any reason this couldn’t just be flat? That small trough doesn’t hold much or seem to do anything specific right?

I cut the spindles off the 80 real quick to lighten it up and start cleaning it, a few measurements will have to be taken before I do the final cut on the tubes. What’s the best way to cut them square? A band saw would be nice, but just tape and cutoff wheel will be accurate enough right?

I really need a small hand plasma cutter to cut the C’s off the superduty axle. Hope to have them off and taken across the street to get bored out to press on 4” tubes sometime this week

So I’m not really supposed to spend money for a while, but the future tow rig sells on copart in 6 days. She might not notice me buy it because I have a bunch of cash. But she would probably notice if I drove 49 hours to North Carolina and back to get it...

so who lives in North Carolina and can store a vehicle for a few months or years?:1zhelp:

I have much more important stuff I could be doing on a Friday night, but this was fun to mess with. 99-07 2500 frame plates, track bar mount and coilover mounts. Also got 1 radius arm partially done. Need to order some joints and stuff for it and still have the main skid plate/crossmember/ link mount setup to cut out. I planned on putting one of these kits under the 2500 suburban frame I have and then putting an Escalade platinum body on it with a duramax. Totally forgot to watch a clean non running Escalade platinum sell on copart on Monday for cheap. :doah:

these files are from a build on pirate. Everything is jigged into place and it’s all super cool. Laser and cnc press brake would be ideal but I’ll make do.
