linked one ton escalade (coming back soon)

I bid on a freshly retired brush truck K30 on Hemmings earlier this year. Quickly got out of my range. I think they're a great way to find low mileage well maintained trucks. $10,500 for 26,000 miles? Pull the pump and put a tent on top- instant overlanding rig!

Looking to order some more tubing for the cage soon. But not completely sure what I want to do on the roof. The 2 tubes connecting the B and C Pilar will be added for sure obviously, but then not sure on the rest. I kind of like the large X that is centered on the C Pilar and crosses through the B. For a trail rig I think it will be plenty strong, I wheeled it without a cage completely so it’s going to be safer no matter what.

Also looking into the corbeau trailcat seats. I wish they came in another color, but black is fine. They’re a little pricey, especially after you add seat warmers... but might set it up so all 4 seats are the same and just buy 2 now and later down the road but the other 2. Seems like a really large rig to only hold 4 people but the odds of me finding even 2 friends is slim :D

I just googled "trailcat seats" and came up with those in a bunch of colors :dunno:

I should’ve said they dont have a color to match stock Escalade interior. :haha:
Talk to Joey @the_blaze He lives right near those guys and has a relationship with them. Could be that he could put you in contact with someone that might be able to help you get the color you want.

Yeah I know them and I bet we can get them to do it in another color. They are way cool. It's my blazer that they used in the video for those seats

that’s awesome!
I’m acquiring an extra $1000 that I wasn’t counting on and it’s really tempting to order 2 with seat heaters next week..

Haven’t done anything or seen my boss all week, so I finally installed the $5200 stereo system he bought a while ago. Something about having really loud music is motivating, so I decided to finally clean out the Escalade and pull it inside. Several hours of cleaning all mice crap and other stuff out. Probably not good to let your project sit in a field for over a year. But now I’m going to at least make a list of what I need to do to get it running and a list of what I want to do before the end of the year.

On the list for tonight is hook back up the brakes and center the axles, they were just thrown under when I brought it out to Colorado.

before it’s running/driving again I need
1. Mount and wire batteries.
2. Mount and finish plumbing coolant tank/lines
3. Buy and install doubler shifters.
4. Driveshafts, either find the old ones or build new ones.
5. Finish A Pilar and mount front fenders and good.
6. Brake lines
7. Build a rear 205 mount

The list of things I want to do is much longer...

I guess I forgot I was part way through swapping out the hydroboost unit, went to pour brake fluid in after hooking the lines back to the axle and the master cylinder didn’t have lines hooked up and was just hanging, then went to hook it up to the pedal under the dash and the hole wasn’t big enough so I had to remove it all and make the hole larger. Took 2 try’s. Got the pedal hooked up. Went to bolt the master cylinder on and it’s the wrong size lines and it’s too big and hits the Shock hoop.:doah: I have probably 5 of them that would work and probably the one I took off back in Nebraska, but maybe I’ll go to a junkyard this weekend and get the right one.

I guess it was nice to kind of work on it though.

I need opinions on what I should do for trans cooler line. The return line to the transmission is getting T’d and also sent to the ecobox, the section to the ecobox will have a .052 restrictor so the trans still gets most of the cooling and doesn’t burn up. But i don’t know what I should do for the line. I bought this T and was just going to add it in with rubber hose for now, but I’d like to maybe do all hard line? Or AN fittings on everything and braided line?

Will barb fittings take the pressure of trans fluid? I thought trans fluid pumps at a much higher psi than other stuff.

Cooler lines are low enough for rubber hoses. Like under 300 psi as long as you use trans cooler rated hoses. Me personally I like the lower pressure rated hydraulic hose. And you can get diy assemble yourself ends so you don't have to have them crimped by a shop.

My Napa when I lived in Moab had some really nice cloth covered rubber hose that was still able to be used with hose clamps too.

I've never heard of anyone plumbing cooling lines to the Eco Box. I'd be interested to know how you intend on maintaining fluid level in the Eco Box.

that’s how Derek ran his on ultimate adventure, he’s put like 20k miles on the setup. You leave the seal between ecobox and trans out and run a .052 restrictor to the ecobox
