LMC 4 headlight harness upgrade + Painless low + high headlight kit setup questions

Doing the high + low conversion with the LMC harness

Okay, I've attached the Painless diagram for hooking up the high + low conversion kit and also my own diagram of the LMC harness as I see it.

With the factory setup there are only two wires for high and low beams...but obviously not in the LMC setup. Where should I hook these up or what needs to change?

Haven't messed with the high/low conversion yet but one of the light bulbs died on me yesterday. It was a bit screwed up on Saturday so I JBWelded the connection tab in place. Can't say I'm terribly impressed with www.EuroLamps.com so far. We'll see how they handle it as it should be covered under their warranty.
 
I just received my hid conversion and h4 replacement euro light's the only problem is they sent me square not round ill post pics when i get the round ones in. 122.00 of ebay to my door and its plug and play for the most.
 
Apparently they are communicating again. I received an email this evening asking for my mailing addy and they are going to send one out to me. Guess we'll see.
 
anyone know what the exact dimensions on the headlight housings are. I have the four lamp setup.

or did anyone get a set off ebay and dont mind sharing the sellor location etc?

Good reading, but I have a question: what if the standard hi/lo beam switch is busted, but I still need hi beams. Right now, I have a jumper from the hot to the low beam side at the connector near the base of the steering column. I have about one hour (once I get home) to fix this before I have to be on the road again, so I was thinking of running a hot wire from my second battery to a SPST switch, then to the hi beam side of the connector. I know that by doing this, the hi beams wont come on/off with the headlight switch, but I dont have any more relays nor do I have time to buy one before I go. This would just be a temp thing till I get back home, but I dont want to drive on the interstate in the middle of the night with just lo beams. Whadya think?

i have a '90 and am considering swapping to an older quad setup like the one i had in my '85 Jimmy with a '82 bumper for the signals. that way i can use the bigger e-code Cibies. i use to run my Hella 220's from a relayed foot switch. that worked well for me.

I realize this is an old thread, but can you tell me what kind of HIDs you ran and how they've held up over time. Need to do this on my '97 Suburban...thanks.
 
The biggest issue you will have with HID's is blinding other drivers. The stock headlight lenses on these trucks SUCK, and you will scatter light everywhere.

Seriously, consider doing the relay mod first. I am MORE than happy with my sealed beam performance on my 91 after modifiation, and you can buy nice Sylvania Silverstar bulbs for your 97 style. If you decide to do HID's later, the relay mod will still help power them.

If you are still dead set on HID's, order from DDM tuning. I have the 55w, slim balast, 5000K setup in my Bimmer from them, and its been great. I wanted bright, pure white (no purple, no yellow, no blue). DDM tuning was the most recommended vendor when i did a ton of research for my bmw. If for some reason, you have trouble getting them to light, there is a relay harness they sell, but it does essentially l the same thing as the relay mod people talk about here. Hence, my recommendation to do that mod first.

Got just that. They are BRIGHT in my bmw, but it has good lenses. I'd start with a set of Sylvania bulbs and the relay mod.
 
i am going to do the headlight relay mod this weekend and also wire up my plow lights i never finished 4-5 years ago. :doah:

i was at the junk yard the other day and found some nice relays with pigtails and mount bracket. look in 88-95 style chevy trucks behind the glove box on a/c equiped trucks.

thay run 3 or 4 relays and thay are the skirted style body so mounted in the fender any water that hits them will drip off away from the contact.

i scored 6 sets for 15 bucks. :eek1:

need pillips screwdriver 7mm or 8mm socket and wire cutters. pull 4 screws/bolts out for glove box if not out already. then 2 sprews/bolts for relay bracket in the now open area. pull out and cut 6-8" pig tails and walk away done easy job.

I would recommend DDM tuning as well. I've bought at least 6 sets of HID's through them. The 55W Raptors is what I normally get except for the one time I needed the 55W slim ballast due to space issues.

There is a thread on bimmerforums on how to make a resistor harness for these lights so you do not trip the "bulb out" error on the computer.

I can look it up if needed. Worked fine on mine.

If you want bright, WHITE colored light....order exactly the same wattage and bulb temp that i ordered.

You'll love them.
