I installed a set of lmc's euro headlights today, and now my daytime running lights don't work. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it because of the bulbs? Any ideas on how I can fix this. The truck needs drls to pass inspection.

It's on a 1991 k5, with the quad headlight front end. I am really not impressed with the lmc lights. The low beams don't put out any more light than the 20 year old sealed beams did.

I can't think of anything in the headlights that would cause that, other than the plugs being different, but even that shouldn't matter as the drl uses the same wire... or does it?

How many wires and what color go to the headlight plug?

Could I possibly ask you to take a photo of the bulbs that are used, or pop one out and let me know if it's an H4 or H7 or the likes?

Also, are those bulb housings glass or plastic?

I'll try to get a picture. They use a 9005 bulb for the high beams, and a 9006 bulb for the low beams. The housings are alluminum, with a glass lense.

I believe standard headlight bulbs - all of them which are legal - are supposed to be 55w or so.

Yeah well...some...other...bulbs are more. Eurolamps sells 70w H7 bulbs and I might have those in...but they're not really much clearer or anything...just a bit brighter.

the lmc euro lights are defiately brighter than sealed beam lights. I did the headlight harness relay wiring mod later on and they are just stupid bright now.

The bulbs say 51w on them. The highbeams are definately brighter than the originals, but I am not impressed with the low beams. There is a piece in front of the bulbs that blocks most of the light. I was going to do the relay mod, but with the factory wiring, I am already getting 14.2v at the bulbs when the engine is running, so I can't see it making much of a difference. I switched to silverstar bulbs in the low beams, hopefully it will help some. Wish I could figure out the running lights though. There are only two wires going to the bulbs. The high beams are used as the running lights.

You could always try some Sylvania Silverstars and see what that does. Also there's the more expensive option of the PIAA bulbs. I've heard nothing but good about those...except they're not cheap by any means.

Completely not related but have any shots of your Jimmy? What color is that? Kinda dig it.

Just shot a few more pics. The jimmy is a 1991, 10 bolt front, 12 bolt rear with detroit, 350tbi, 700r4, np241, 2001 silverado seats. It has a skyjacker 2.5" lift with 32" bfg km2s. It was originally a park rangers truck, hence the color.

The front holes closest to the transmission lined up with the new seats. For the rest, I drilled holes in the floor, and added plates on the underside to keep the bolts from pulling through. I also made some 1 inch spacers so that the seats would be slightly higher than the originals. I used the seat bases off of the silverado.
