Hey guys, I was wondering who makes the highest quality reproduction tailgate from some of your experiences you may have had with them? My tailgate has always had rust on the bottom and has always been a little bent.. But literally just two hours ago I had a strap break and fly back and put a HUGE dent in my tailgate....
(was a rookie mistake, won't happen again) But anyways, my Blazer is my baby, but I'm really not too bummed that it had happened since this tailgate was shot and I was planning on getting a new one anyways. & BTW, I am not really interested in finding a used tailgate off of a parts truck. would like a brand new reproduction.
Anyways, thanks in advance!

But I figured either way it may help someone out in the future! But anyways, the package came today and surprisingly weighed 81lbs on the shipping tag! And after pulling it out of the box and looking at it, I am actually very pleased! It feels like it is made of a heavier guage steel and not terribly far off from the factory guage. The dimensions also seem to be very close if not perfect. I am going to bolt this tailgate on within the next few days just as a test fit.. Hopefully it lines up as good as I'm thinking it will.. So I will try my best to keep this thread updated. I also took a few pictures that I will post later tonight when I get more time.
& As my old man would say...... PEARL HARBOR MF'ER!
Going to get estimates on paint tomorrow, but planning on test fitting later this week.
I need to get a photobucket and/or learn to post them properly.
and then
... But its not the end of the world! I figured some sort of issue would arise sooner or later. I've worked on these old trucks long enough to know that!
) Right in the very back corner of the bed (very common spot) it has rusted through. But, a friend of mine does killer body work, so someday down the road she will get patched up when I repaint it! The fenders, quartes, floors throughout the rest of the truck are rock solid though. Just that one stupid spot
Call me a wuss if you want to, but i try really hard to keep her out of the elements to at least slow it down.

And everytime I see it without a back bumper, I always think of how cool a K5 would look with a roll pan...
