I've never tooken the tops off any of my k5's and i don ever plan to except to do maintenance and repairs. I prefer the security, insulation and enclosed cab especially when im sleeping back there
I agree. Rain gear and proper clothes would be a must. This is the only way I drive my beater. The top was removable one time as I had to cut it off, there is only one piece of glass in the truck (windshield) and the doors are easy to take off.
The way I figure it we, as off roaders, want more than just to see the scenery we want to be in it. If we just wanted to see it we could just watch videos or check out photos of an area. It is hard to be out in the great out doors with a top on.
In the summer my top is always off, I just put my doors back on tho, the wind flow sucked in my opinion it created a swirling effect and unless the truck is really clean you get hit with all sorts of stuff. Plus the heater doesn't work nearly as good when the doors are off.
I recently had my L. door post (rotted), both doors and both quarter panels replaced due to rust. After the work I ran several weeks with no doors or top. I LOVED it....until it rained
Did put the new doors on......and now I need help.... HELP
The body shop managed to lose the small plastic/fiberglass caps that go on the CUT-OFF door window glass frame at the rear of the doors. oops.
Also the big rubber plugs that go over the vent window where the door glass frame was CUT-OFF there too.
Any ideas????????? please........
I havent had my doors on for two years and Its fine sucks when the snow is melting cause the Tires kick everything up into the cab but other then that its been great. Top off in the summer and Lond distance driving is find loud and windy thats about it.
