Hello all,

I recently had a motor and new tranny installed. First mechanic I took it to in Firestone really screwed things up I should have known from his reviews but it was reference from a friend by no means his fault thinking it would be a good job. Needless to say I got my truck back after a year hoping that "take your time" would result in an awesome finish product that turned out to be a lump of POOP. I ended up going to another shop in Denver and it is almost there but still having some issues. The transmission sometimes is slipping out of gear and when I release the gas pedal it will re-engage and normal operation resumes. I ordered the motor from PAC-FAB 6 liter multiport injection and new transmission. The power is awesome and exactly what I wanted. I was wondering if anyone on this forum could suggest a performance shop in Denver Metro area that specializes in Chevy Blazer preferably. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can tell you where not to go I would hate for anyone to go through what I did. Thank you all in advance! Inventory list:

Not sure who you went through first. I’ll PM you as I’d like to know

I can’t recommend a shop, but I have heard about some issues with the automatics with the swaps giving some issues

@SpeedlabDan recently had some with his.

There are a lot of variables. First thing I would do is make sure the tune is on point. If everything in the tune looks good, make sure the wiring harness is set up correctly, make sure the VSS is set up correctly along with the TCC Switch. If your torque converter isn't locking up then it will feel like its slipping

Is there a shop you recommend to check/adjust tune and possibly look over install?

Sorry just noticed you are in CA
no problem, i just noticed you posted more information. I deal with Tildon a lot, they are good people. my money is on either the TCC switch wasnt wired up correctly to the brake switch, or the VSS wasn't wired correctly to the VSS on the tcase. the tune should be good since you got the computer from Tildon. Also, the previous shop could have installed the torque converter without any fluid. double check the tranny level and make sure its full

Tildon guys are awesome and helped me find the second shop which actually got me back on the road. I may call them again I might just ship or drive it to them. I know it will be done right I have had several conversations with them you are right good peeps wish they were here.

I know the feeling, only my build was dealing with an Allison 1000 5spd. The issues I had were to do with the wiring harness that was removed from the donor truck harness and mated back up with a new engine harness for my 8.1L vortec which is basically the same arrangement as the Ls swaps.
First the vss had to be set up in the output housing of the np205. I had ord machine the housing and supply the tone wheel. There are other companies also doing this. The tcm relies heavily on the vss to shift and operate properly.
Next, is a 7pin connector and a 4pin on the "nsbu" nuetral safety backup switch" on the side of your 4l60e that slides over the shift shaft. Make sure that switch is good as they get moisture in them and malfunction.
In my case the 4 pin was wired back in but the 7 pin was left out. I was told that the 7 pin was outgoing signal only. That's incorrect, there's an ignition wire and a ground that I needed to connect. The trans would shift after that.
My final problem and one that I haven't ironed out yet is the table the trans runs in when shifted to low range. I suspect a ground needs to be signaled to the 7 pin when in low range. There are wires in the 7 pin pertaining to 4wd but I'm not sure how they work yet. Pin #16 in the ecm "red" connector is also a ground signal for low range.
Like I said I haven't ironed it out yet as I just got this far in the last few weeks. And I'm glad to be able to drive it. Now if I could figure out why the heated o2s aren't working (possibly the pin out) I could move on. This is the hard part of these so called "drop in engine swaps" they can test your level of mechanical skill for sure. Good luck and let us know how you make out

Does this trans "slip out of gear" when you come to a stop or just going down the highway in overdrive? Have you checked to verify the proper fluid level?

You know I have not had a chance to check fluid I will. I will take a few days just recently had triple hernia surgery and truck is lifted kind of a challenge to get to it right now. I may just ask a neighbor. Thanks for the tip.

Subscribed to see the outcome.
And I hope that it isn't a case similar to one I heard recently. I heard of someone who didn't know that the engine had to be running to check the transmission oil. I hope that some shop didn't do it correctly for you.

Found an awesome garage!!!! Looks like the torque converter cable may be loose causing trans issues. So glad to find someone clue full! Also ordered SSBC brake system all wheel disc has anyone every used or installed? If so are you happy with the performance? They are a direct replacement and also replacing all the plumbing.....

@dmagas Greg is nicely telling you to run from that shop too. No such thing as a torque converter cable.

Torque converter cable?
Sorry that was my bad by cable not physical cable "purple wire" faulty connection along with leaks, hail damage to hood after I asked to have it put in garage, scratched the body, broke my side mirror, and when I address issues I got "that sucks man" and hung up on. Alright that is my vent it just sucks getting taken for....

You are entitled to some venting after all that. I hope you find the shop that can right these wrongs and get you back to enjoying your truck again soon.

If you paid by card you have options to the problems mentioned above.:waytogo::waytogo:

Just an update, there were 2 connections running from the new computer to the transmission which cause confusion and would send tranny out of gear. Again another fault from the original install. Several other wiring mistakes I was clearly shown each one. It was a mess but when its not your own vehicle why take any pride oh wait there still are people like that. Really glad it is in the shop I took it to. Next up 6 inch lift and fix oil leaks.
