LS lean on both banks?

So, where did the tune come from? Did you mod the harness?
Yes, I did the harness myself. Modded stock harness.

The tune was done by Bigblock72. He's just 15 min drive from me so that made it simple to get up and running quickly and he's been good about making adjustments as needed.

I was actually interested in some of your comments regarding tuning for a manual transmission since I am running a NV4500 currently, but I think I'm going to install a 4l60E this winter anyway.

As in?

What is he using to tune, HP?

I'm not sure what he used for the tune.

There are a couple of things that are annoying about the way the engine runs and I've heard that it is because it is tuned for an automatic. What comes to mind at the moment is how slowly the RPM's come down when I'm trying to shift. Before I put the LS in I usually shifted without using the clutch (except starting out of course), but now the RPM's take too long to drop and it's not really an option.

I don't remember where you mentioned it but someone else had a NV4500 and you talked about a few things that went into a manual tune that sounded interesting but I didn't bookmark it. Like I said, I'm going to drop an automatic in it this winter anyway so I figured I'd just live with it for now.

Email me the tune..... :D [email protected]

Are you running a VSS?

Email sent. :D

One other issue that I have that may, or may not be related to the tune is how sensitive the throttle response is. Right now, going over bumps at low speed sometimes makes the truck damn near undrivable. My foot bounces on the throttle causing me to blip the engine, making me bounce more, blip the throttle harder, rinse, lather, repeat, etc, until I pull my foot back and wait for it to settle down.

I figure this could be caused by several things. The tune could have the throttle too sensitive. The throw on my pedal might not be long enough. The return springs on the pedal could be too soft (or too stiff). My suspension is about as soft as a dump truck so maybe it's just that. Or, all of those things combined. :dunno:

Got it and there is no way thats the file being run. Its stock with VATS and all DTCS still enabled.

On your pedal. Is it a stock pedal from the 05 or is it modified? DBW does not require the same amount of throw to achieve full throttle. You may think you are only pressing half but in reality its more. You would have to watch on a scanner. You need TPS, the blade, and ETC, pedal, selected to monitor.

I'll check again on the file.

It is the stock pedal from the '03 that came with the engine...kinda.
I modified it a bit so I could use my stock pedal. The '03 pedal wouldn't fit unmodified.

Yeah, I would hook up a scanner and see what you are actually getting.

On an 8.1 swap we finished I remember taking it for a test drive and thought that half pedal was very touchy. Turned out it was full throttle. I bent the pedal down so it was full throttle on the scanner right before touching the floor. Now there is a much better pedal feel as to where you really are.

In the tunes, you can not modify the pedal vs blade tables hardly any without tripping a TAC code or bricking the ECM.

That was going to be my next step in trying to get better feel.

If the check engine light comes back on let me know, those codes are usually quite easy to diagnose. Probably need less than an hour to figure it out.

Also when you are watching the fuel trims watch short term (STFT1, STFT2)and long term (LTFT1, LTFT2). The long term will need to be over 25% for the PCM to store a code. Generally when everything is running ok the long term trim will be +- 5 and the short term will be constantly bouncing above and below 0.

Sorry for the slow response on the tune file, converting to Windows 10 made a mess of my hpt files. I still haven't figured out how to put those back to where they need to be.

Will do, thanks!
I'm betting intake gasket, but so far they haven't come back.

Windows 10 F***** my stuff up. Had to revert to 7. Will not upgrade until I know its safe... Like maybe 2020.
