LS manifolds

My buddy is a welder, he came over and welded a nut on and backed the bolt right out. I tried unsuccessfully to do this with my MIG welder.

I now own a TIG welder and have to learn how to TIG weld...

OK dude. I guess 3 years is temporary. Mine hasn't leaked yet. I guess when it's the difference between pulling the head for access to remove the broken stud or putting the clamp on, I'll go this way.

I might use one on my own shit, or use one if someone was ok with their shit being cobbled. I don't even know if I consider those things cobbling, but this wasn't the right time to use them.

I don't think it's cobbling. It's pretty slick engineering to a horribly common problem. I'd give a customer the option as well as it's an alternative repair to going all the way to get the stud out.

i NEVER said it to you direct . . . thats just my opinion on them .
i do the ls manifold bolts a lot over the years . i have gotten them out whn others tried and failed drilling them .

tip on the rear ones is if the body bolts are in good shape you can undo 1 side and lift the body up like your doing a body lift . i did one set on a truck with a 3" body lift already and it was way better to get in there at he rear bolt they drilled off center and still couldnt get . i welded 1 nut to it and spin it right out .

to each there own on there builds i was just stating my opinion . and that was the first i have ever seen those repair units .

Whether you did direct it to me or not, you posted and I've got just as much of a right to react. It's awful funny how you react to something you've not even used. Let's face it, some folks don't have the means to pay out a ton of money to extract one stupid broken stud out of the head. Giving an option between a $1000 repair at a shop to do it the right way by pulling the head and doing the repair on the bench or a much more cost-effective repair at a significantly less amount is the difference between getting it fixed or not.

I say this knowing it's friggen ironic how you got royally pissed off with other folks here that called you out for a questionable repair on somebodies Ford and now you are the one preaching about a $30 part to fix a problem that could cost somebody a ton of money if they took it to a shop. Best start with the window cleaner on that glass house ok?

temp yes ......... long term nope .

how does this turn in to your version of my words ? @ZooMad75 ......... please dont be twisting my words .

and i have done so many manifold bolt jubs its not fun anymore even tho most are super easy .

yes i got real mad but go re-read that stuff the way it was said / directed / tossed at me DIRECTLY that is what set me off . i NEVER said anything to you directly in here . just gave my opinion in general no names said or implied .

i am past fighting

How about some time out

I don’t feel like discussing bad attitudes about manifolds for the second time in three months
