Last week I bought a 05 5.3 and 4L60e. I was hoping to take my time and make it a winter project, but I put my old motor and tranny on craigslist and it sold with in a day. So me and the wife pulled it out Saturday, I'll start cleaning the 5.3 up and getting it ready to drop in with in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck with the swap, I'm wrapping up my swap this week. It's pretty straight forward except my 5.3 is from an 2002 with DBC and I'm reusing my original 700R. Mine is also an 87 so everything is pretty much already pre-existing on the chassis to make the swap even easier. If you need any help, just shoot me a message.

nice project man! i kinda wish i had a matching transmission for my 5.3 swap, it'd save me a lot of time and money.

What fuel pump did you use? I'd like to see some pics of your build to, if you don't mind.

I have pics on my phone, I'll post them up when I figure out how. I used a fuel pump from a 97 3500 pickup with the 5.7 gasoline engine. It's a direct fit to the original sender, with the correct pressure for the 5.3, heck even the electrical connector is the same. Give me a chance to organize my pics to load them.

Also forgot to mention, I reused the TBI fuel lines from frame up to the engine, but I cut about 2 inches after the first bend where it becomes hard line before reaching the TBI unit. I then bubble flared the hard line and used 3/8 and 5/16 high pressure fuel injection gates brand rubber hose with fuel injection clamps to the quick connects on the 5.3 fuel rail. Let me get some pics (Worth 1000 words).

One more thing, I used exhaust manifolds from a 2009 Pontiac G8, they worked flawlessly and cleared everything. No notching frame, no pie cutting away from shackle, no interferance to front driveshaft.:woot:

thorley just cant recall what one of the 2 brands . ck5 member let them use his truck with ls swap for mockup .

and schonefield ? spelling . race car stuff make some also .

street & performance headers are expensive, but they have fit perfectly on a number of builds including mine and Teck's.

Sending my harness and pcm off to ssperformance in Arkansas to be reworked and tuned.I started into it last night and found that the yard i bought it from like to cut rather than un clip. Just waiting on some parts, and still trying to hunt down a t-case.

a little off topic, i love your oil drain pan idea. im going to do the same when i do my engine.:D

looks nice!

Im still waiting on my wiring harness, and I had to order some metric rod to install my harmonic pulley. I ordered new coil packs, wires and plugs and hopefully all the fuel stuff i need.

I got my harness back today, it looks clean and they done a good job. But my diesel gelled up on me this morning so looks like the blaze is kicked back yet another day or so.

I've got a question on the on the gas pedal, my buddy works for a body shop and was able to get the pedal assembly but the tac module is from a different truck. Is that a problem do they have to be from the same truck?

i believe i remember reading that they are supposed to be from the same vehicle... but i don't know what exactly would happen if they aren't. my module is from the same truck.
