LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
If I’m looking at this correctly, I’m on my phone so not the best, but it looks like your AFR’s start going real lean right before the limiter kicks in. Could it be sensing knock and turning the rev limit on to save it?

I'll find a couple logs of that from before the trans change.
It's been doing it since the new engine went in.

As for knock, the sensors are not calibrated correctly. But I don't hear any at that point.... :dunno:
That's one place Holley completely dropped the ball. I looked up how to set them up on the last engine and there's no info that I could find on how to set and scale them.

Unfortunately Holley's implementation of knock sensors makes it pretty pointless to use them, even on the Dominator.

I have them hooked up on mine because I already had them, don't think I have ever seen them doing anything.

I tried looking it up and it needed a bunch of numbers nobody supplied and such.
Just gave up on it.

Only time I hear mine ping/rattle, is when I come to a stop in gear and the idle drops to 400 or so before it catches its self.

I didn't blue the way the new trans filter hung low. So I found a wix hydraulic system filter for it that is above the frame.IMG_20250820_172348334_HDR.jpgIMG_20250820_172158774_HDR.jpg

Also, surprisingly, with all the burnouts I've gotten out of this thing the tires aren't super bad yet lol.
For having 3800#s sitting on the rear tires and doing all that spinning, they still have sorta decent life left.IMG_20250820_212918703_MP.jpgIMG_20250820_212909042.jpg
Depth was taken at the white spot on the tire since it drew my attention lol.

Has that changed at all with the entire trans swap? Because you have had so many issues tuning that out I sometimes wondered if the transmission was binding or something.

The Holley knock sensor configuration is very difficult and even if you get them tuned just right, the software just doesn't utilize them properly. I have mine hooked up too, but nothing is set up or configured. Regardless of the system, they need to be tuned for your engine since aftermarket blocks, forged pistons, forged cranks etc. all change the frequency that it "rings" at when it pings.

Come to think about it, I still have mine technically ON. I should just shut them down.

Got ready to start tearing this trans apart, and hit the brakes.
I'm going to talk to the dude that built it first and see if he will do something for me, or work with me somehow before I tear into it.

Cleared a spot and built a table to do it on, then built the engine stand mount for the trans.

I'd definitely talk to him. Maybe should have done it while it was still in the truck so he could see what it was doing for himself

Should have talked to him as soon as it started the shuddering.

Kept thinking it was something else because I didn't want to believe it I guess.

I have done that before. Thought no way I broke the trans and blamed it on the rear diff

Last time I went through this, with my first burb, I had the transmission rebuilt broke internal parts, and took it back to him.
Having him pull it apart and replace the broken parts cost as much as the rebuild.
But he said he was able to re use the clutches and seals n chit since they were all good.
I'm hoping to reuse all that again and just replace hard parts :dunno:
