LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
It was just at 196 after a drive across town and back.
Odd part is, it never used to get that hot
If there is a sudden drastic change then I'd be concerned yes. Check the fluid level if it's leaking, a little bit can make a big difference in pressure if it has air in it.

Only hard part of the install was messing with the hog rings since I had to reuse them.

I had the pliers. And there probably is some new rings in the building. But I wouldn't know where to look lol.
Old ones were in good shape. And the design of the cover eliminated the need for half of them.

Something else to look into at a later date.

That looks like a standard push in breather grommet. Is it part of the cap or removable?

Not sure. Haven't played with it much.
I think it's part of the cap because all of that black is one single solid chunk of rubber.
Before I got the engine I seen a few different mentions of the cap weeping oil.
And one vid that the dude showed those cross bars and said that's the good one. The older style didn't have those and it was a big open cavity in the back of the cap.
But it's almost like the hole its self is too big for it.

Unfortunately that isn't my oil leak . But I found the oil film around it when I was topping the oil off.

I'm pretty sure the leak is going to be the fittings for the remote filter.
Spent my last 2 days off under a couple different giant cargo work vans though.

It's on the lift bay now. I just have to wait for another day off.

Changed the filter I put on the frame rail today, and this is what came out of it.
Doesn't seem to look too bad :dunno:
Gets dark if you pool it.

Now, the oil leak ....

I'm not sure it's not the power steering still.
I thought oil cause it was black on my floor.
But now I'm thinking power steering fluid running down a still greasy cross member.

I can't find an oil leak anywhere, but the bottom of the power steering box is WET.
It looks like maybe it's getting over to this hose somehow (spraying, wind from the road :dunno: ) and following that over the cross member, where it's got a low point.

That hose is dry either direction from that point.
Can't imagine the hose it's self is leaking.

Well, guess it's about time for a new transmission again lol.
This one wasn't slipping or anything that I noticed, but I could feel today that it just seemed like it was taking off in second. Like it was skipping first all together and just going but in a higher gear.
Then got to work and realized quick that I didn't have reverse. Like it's not clicking into that either.

Not sure if the solenoid for them gears died, or how that works. :dunno:
I'm not gonna put a lot of time into it I don't think.
No reason to pull the pan and play with it just to change the whole trans in a couple months.

Did you confirm if your shifter adjustment is still good in every gear position?

Seems fine in every spot, and I tried moving the shifter real slow between gears trying to get it to catch.
No beans.

Taking off from a dead stop, it would go just like it's supposed to, but seemed less powerful.
Then I noticed taking off that I didn't feel it shift 1-2.
Which is when I realized that it'd take off fine and shift when it was supposed to at 2-3. I didn't realize reverse didn't work until I pulled up to the back of another car, to back into my spot at work. Which is when the frantic hunt through the gears to see if it was between gears or something happened.

That's the only troubleshooting I've done, as I had to get into work lol. Had a dude pull me backwards into my spot quick.

Yeah I lost reverse in a really bad spot at a client house, I was lucky I was resourceful enough to find a way to get out of there and made it home

It's definitely skipping first gear. It sounds like it shifts out of it as soon as you touch the pedal.
It'd odd that it doesn't just rev up like the gear is bad or anything. It just flat skips it.
This is dead stop, ease into it , take off.

This is a pic taken with the gear selector in 1st.IMG_20251019_064016499_HDR.jpg

You can tell by this it's in second stillScreenshot_20251019-110513.png

Just gauging the linkage by where it's at from inside, Park is actually park. Drive is actually drive, 3rd and second feel and work as they should.

First is still actually second, and it won't go backwards no matter where you put the stick at.
You can feel the transmission detents through the stick, and the reverse detent lines up with the reverse location on the stick.

But that's all the checking I was able to do on my way home from work this morning.
I'll get it on the lift and double check the linkage soon, but not today.

I know the reverse accumulator rod can be worn and keep it from going backwards, but I'm not sure how that would keep it from actually using first gear when I'm in drive going forward.

And PS,.... The vid attached above was in DRIVE.
