LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
So, few things from the day.

I found some 12.9 grade bolts in town for the converter. Got them in and found that I maybe should have bought other ones.

Unless that flex plate does more flexing than I would think, it should be ok.
But it's close. The other bolts I have are maybe a 1/16" more space.

I have a washer under the heads, since they weren't flanged. I could still take that out.
The only place it's close is them 2 spots that I can see.

Second,
I finally got the map sensor off the list.. and it doesn't work in the intake, or the wire harness :doah:
I just figured the ones on the list were a plug and play... :dunno:
Not exactly sure what to do.

I only actually have 1 vac port , so I will have to 'T' off of it to run both the fuel regulator and the map sensor built into the Terminator.
I'd rather have one that fits in that port and plug.

I had one that Amazon said matched one of those numbers. It fit, and plugged in. But the Terminator didn't read it. Just said ERROR.

I looked around, and the gen3 ls1 on the list, is a 1 bar, that both plugs in and fits the intake.
So I ordered one of those.

Luckily, the other one I bought was a $10 version of the GM part number. Because I wanted to plug it in and see it work with the Terminator, before I bought the $85 one.

Which I did with this one too :waytogo:
This one is at least a spectra premium. If it works out I'll get a delphi or Delco later.
 
Not exactly yet.

There's been speculation, but nothing proven that I can recall at the moment.
I thought the TPS sensor bit me, but upgrading it actually didn't fix anything.
And like mentioned, I got the $10 first map sensor as a try, to see if that part number worked. It didn't.
Rather find out with the $10 one and eat it, than buy the $85 one and have to go all through the return crap lol.

This one is at least a spectra premium, which I've had nothing but good luck with. So if it works, I'll upgrade.

I'm wondering if the reason the other one didn't work in the TBSS intake was because it wasn't scaled for that sensor.

All I did was change the map sensor used in that drop down menu.
It immediately said error and wouldn't start after installing the change.
So I swapped back quick. Never looked into it farther.

It's possible it's just a difference in pinout. It's easy to tell on the ECU side, because the GND will be low resistance to some other ground, one will have 5V and the signal line should be a high impedance. The trick is knowing the pinout of the sensor, but that information should be out there. Those connectors are easy to re-pin.
 
I've always been curious how much a flexplate flexes with normal operation.

Because all the real flex plate bolts seem to be short.
If I used the ones that came with it I'd have barely a 1/4" of threads in the hole. And all the other ones I found were like that.
The ones that came with the flex plate are longer to compensate, but they are for a 6 bolt flange, so the lower grade is probably OK.
I'm launching a 6000+# truck on a 3 bolt. I'd rather have at least the equivalent of grade 8.

A normal flex plate is pretty thin, so they'd work for that.
This flex plate has 1/4" thick mount pads and I have an .080" washer between the flexplate and converter too.
If I found some normal flanged head bolts I'd still only gain a tiny bit of space. Not enough to really make much difference.:dunno:

I can't get into any of them to read voltage when it's on though.
Not without poking a wire which I don't like.

Finding which is which for the other 2 would be the question. Is that where the ohms to ground would come in?
Maybe I could find the wiring diagram for a 98 Camaro or something to find the Pin-out on the sensor.
 
Could wiring the sensor wrong mess up the ECM or anything?
I've seen at work where a bad device draws down the internal power source.

When I tried the other sensor the MAP channel was the only one that said error. And it said too low if I remember correctly...?

I like to take a single strand of copper from a wire and ill wrap and tape it to my meter lead. Makes it easy to back probe the connectors.
 
The ECM side that won't work. It's all sealed I believe.
The sensor end maybe, but I think they have little gasket rings that would make it hard.

Found new ones at a different store today.
I'll use them. They're about perfect.

I like to take a single strand of copper from a wire and ill wrap and tape it to my meter lead. Makes it easy to back probe the connectors.
You can't back-probe a sealed connector. You could disassemble and install a strand of look wire, but that doesn't seem worth doing here. The ECM voltages can be accessed from the sensor connector when it is unplugged.
 
Last night I found a video of a dude that had the same problem. The sensor was pinned different than the Terminator harness.
Dude went through what's what on the sensor, but never said what was what on the harness.

I should be able to figure it out hopefully.
 
Throttle pedal modifications done.

I dug out the stock pedal from the gas truck I parted, and got a new inner cable for the jacket I already had.

Ran it to the farther down pull point on the TB cam.

It has a good pedal position, a solid stop point click, and there's pedal left. Which unfortunately is really just straining the cable. So I hope that doesn't break.... We'll see lol.

Goals for tomorrow through Wednesday are ,

Swap out converter bolts to the better version.
Add a little bit to the starter/solenoid heat shield.
(It's kind of mis placed for the headers and isn't doing much)
Install plugs/wires.
Get core support in.
Mount transmission cooler and run new lines.
Add some fluid. (6 qts...:dunno:)
'Maybe' do the oil cooler too.(May wait till the short time oil change in a month.)
Install battery and new tune.
Double check everything, and test start.
Check everything for leaks and such, and fill transmission the rest of the way.

I'm going to run it on the internal map sensor for that, and I'll change it when I get the new sensor next weekend. Goal is first drive on the road next Sunday or Monday.
 
Didn't really gain me much. But a guess .080" is a long way in the clearance world.

I should have went to Ace first. But I figured farm and fleet might have more of it on hand. All they had was the 8.8 in flanged.

I didn't even notice the clearance thing until I was torquing the second one.
