LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Still looks red.
And it never really slips like a trans normally would.
It'll still shift and chirp em kinda. It just makes that sound when it does lol.

Really , I don't know.
I was trying to look for cops and hold my phone up. So I didn't catch that enough to remember it.

Could something just be rubbing, like a header tube on the frame or some other lost clearance from motor mount flex?

It only does it on the 1-2 shift .
The same shift that used to jerk the whole truck like an explosion.
Now it shifts fast and solid, but not exclusively, and it makes that sound lol
I'll look when I get it on the lift this week and see if there is something though yeah..

So, I pulled the pumpkin cover and did some looking.
No idea on miles since gear swap. But less than 2500 would be my guess.
Backlash is .010"
Gear pattern. And tooth condition.IMG_20250722_115335024_HDR.jpgIMG_20250722_111237528_HDR.jpgIMG_20250722_111246481_HDR.jpgIMG_20250722_111250719_HDR.jpg

Next was a play check.
There's a LOT of play in the spiders.
I'm going to check it with both tires touching the ground. Doing it in the air, holding both tires the best we could. I was getting between .050" and .100" ring gear movement before it tries to turn the wheels. By turning the drive shaft.
Didn't vid that part.

Next was tail shaft play.
More than I would like of that too. But Im not sure, and it doesn't leak :dunno:

Shock mounts have torn up outer rings. But the weight of the axle is hanging on them right now, and the bolts are still centered.:dunno:

Forgot the magnet pic.
This was taken as soon as I pulled the cover.

Those bushings are gnarly. I'd definitely recommend changing those out. Sitting static versus having to control 7k lbs is two different environments.

Surprisingly they aren't old. No idea why they did that.
