LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Being out of work for the whole summer means that car parts won't happen for a LONG time .
No pro dash for me. :notworthy:
I was trying to figure out if I could make a rear diff happen.
That's probably out of the cards too.

But I've been thinking of something similar.
I was thinking of putting temporary white marks all the way around both back tires about 6" apart
Then setting up the GoPro on a tripod and drive by it.
It'll take a few trys to get the stutter at the right spot.
But then I could run it back in high def slow Mo and see what's happening.

Tried to catch it on vid and see if it's spin or hop or what.
But I can't see chit in it :doah:
At least on my phone

Got there to do it and had forgot the line marker too lol.
Was hoping the wheels would help. But:dunno:

Hard to tell, the framerate isn't high enough. The third one does have some wheel spin as you cross the break in the concrete. The second one may have some as well, but even slowing down to .25 speed it's tough.

Try that again w/ a slow motion running. Need to have someone to do that though.

There are some things on the rims? that look like wheel weights opposite ea other. they did the job of a marker.

I need to have the sun on the camera side too lol. I didn't think of that.

My 80 some year old neighbor rode down on his mower and asked when I was gonna take him for a ride.
So we went right there lol.

During the process we tested out the stereo, did a burnout, and I drove along doing about 30 in second, dropped a gear, and mashed it.
About gave him whiplash, and the look on his face went from :yikes: to :D in about half a second. :haha:

He said he'd get himself in trouble with it, and asked if I was happy with it.
I told him I built it to be loud, in your face, and violent.
He says I achieved my goal :waytogo:

Burnout marks from that ride.

Yeah.
I'm going to stick the old trans back in it and run with it.
Probably use that converter too since this one probably needs a good cleaning

Get through this year hopefully. Maybe next year I'll buy that Gearstar or something.

Probably have the converter loosened up a bit and gone through over the winter.

When trying to take off from a stop, or if it slows down far enough to shift to first, it'll do that grindy chit.
Then if you feather it it'll grab and move at some point, and works fine after that. Until you slow down too far or stop again.
Didn't realize reverse did it too until that vid.

Happened trying to do a burnout for my nephews about 3 miles from the shop.
It did drive home.

Been ng a plate style, I probably need to just change my cooler to. D@mnit.
Lines would be cleanable though.

Not sure if I should try and have this one rebuilt, by a different person this time.
Or just get a loan or something and do the gearstar.

Bummer man, it seems like you just got that rebuilt, was it even a year ago?

It was rebuilt when I put the heads and cam on the last engine last summer.

I took my nephews and niece up to see their grandparents on a 60-70 mile round trip.
Windows down , stereo on, etc.
My 7 yr old niece was eating it up, and LOVED the sound when I got on it.
So when we were almost home I stopped to do a burnout.
Got stopped, fun button on, feet on both pedal, and as soon as I pressed the gas, the tires spun about 1 revolution maybe and the trans just went CRUNCH!
I let up, tried pushing again, and it made a bunch of crunchy sounds and spun the engine a bit.
Let off eased back into it to figure out if it sounded like trans or driveshaft, and it grabbed and went.
So I kept going lol.
Slowed way down to wait for a car at an intersection and it did it again .....
So I ran a few stop signs (safely) on the rest of the way back lol.

Getting it in the shop sounded ugly.

I hope it didn't roach the case.
It wouldn't be the first transmission I broke many, many internal parts of, and it was rebuildable. :dunno:

A little late now, but consider putting a spin on filter in the cooler line before it goes through the cooler.
Mine was full after my convertor ate itself up. Saved a lot of debris going through the trans.

I have one too...
It used to be the auxiliary filter for the diesel for this when I got it.

I have a new cooler that I think is exactly the same one I'm using for the transmission,. It was supposed to be for the oil but I never did it.
I'll clean the lines, swap to the old chit and see how long that lasts.
I've been doing a bunch of vids on how to rebuild the 4l80e and I think I'm going to try it over the winter.

Only had a few hrs on it before my body said NOPE.
So it's pretty much just down to take the bell housing bolts and cross member out to pull it.
Still gotta dig the old one out of hiding.

I had to remove my garage door opener to get up high enough for the office chair to roll around comfy with me in it. Lol.

And I can't afford a transmission jack, so I'm going to build a bracket deal in top of my hydraulic table that will act as platform to strap the jack to. And I plan to make it pivot at the top plate a little for angle adjustment going back in.

That's all tomorrow.
