LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
And these, are STUCK together..
As you flip it around pieces of metal fall out lol

Yikes that’s impressive I don’t even think I have done that much damage. :haha:
I'm good at it lol.
I once broke the input shaft, split the planetary cage, and sheared all the teeth off a couple gears in a 700r4 with a stock 87 6.2 dizzle :thumb:

Ironically in my first suburban. 20years ago, and the trans had been rebuilt by the same dude :haha:

To add to it, id told him to BUILD it because I was planning to motor swap from a 6.2 to a 454:whistle:

Crazy how history repeats its self lol.

There isn't anything around here except replacement shops. That's why I'm trying to do this one myself, so that I don't have to worry about it again lol.

He's actually the only one around I know that rebuilds them in a performance way.

There's a race shop across the river that I might ask.
See if they know any one.

Not yet.
Don't see him on here much actually.
And he's half a country away from me lol.

As for the transmission guy, he's done some others that have been great. And most of the HP guys around here went to him for years.
He's a drag racer that started his business after building a bunch of his own and some for buddies.

Had a 9 second mid 80's camaro running a 700r4 that lived a long time.

Me and a few of my family have had stuff done by him. And those 2 are the only ones that broke.

Both were treated badly lol.
But this one definitely seemed to have been less than the others.
It's had issues from day one.

Forgot to mention this other spring plate is bent too

So far my hard parts needed are

Center support (or just that rear race on it if I can).
Rear planetary.
Direct drum springs/retainer.
And whatever that other springs plate I bent was.
A bunch of clutches and steels.
Couple one ways.

I haven't seen any seals or bushings that bother me.
All of that seemed to survive well enough.

No idea. I know some of those parts aren't that expensive.
Think the center support of I got the whole thing is like $45.
One way is another 45 and I'd need it either way.
The springs need replacement either way, too.
Only real part I'd get out of a core would be the rear planetary.

Plus this I at least know.
New core could be in the same or worse condition inside.
There'd be no way to know.

I'm going to sit down here in a bit and see what the list would cost me through Global transmission.

In hind sight .. Jakes performance sells a "stage 4 " transmission, for $5000. That's designed and built for heavy vehicles running up to 1000HP.

I paid $3k for this, and by the time I'm done I'll have another 2 into it with fixes and the converter rehab.

Should have looked father into it before.

I get this done and it goes again, that's what I'll buy.

Possible, but unlikely, a factory one that wore out is going to be in much better condition than one that was destroyed by someone else.

I've bought them that still worked for a few hundred bucks, and rebuilt them. Its much easier to rebuild one that was nearing the end of its life vs one that was grenaded from too high of pressure and likely incorrect assembly.

It cost a little more than a cheap core, but its easier to rebuild when all you need are bushings, seals, frictions, steels, electronics, etc. Essentially the wear parts, not the hard parts.
