LSX454 swapped 95 BASS burb.

Little lower, little cooler, bigger sounds.
Still didn't actually have first gear.
I was wrong.
But it does now lol. No idea why or how, but I put it in 1st, and started driving. Could tell immediately that it was in second.
Got it up to about 35, and then POP, and rev through the moon, as it kicked back into 1st lol.
Since then it's worked as it should. But I'm still babying it since there had been some small metal particles in the pan.
Still gives no indication of slippage or anything funny :dunno:
It'll do untill it gets parked for the winter I hope.

That's a new one!

I'm only laughing because it popped backward into gear, and you have a new one on the way already.

I'm thinking the check ball was stuck to or in the plate.

This is more what I wanted, and closer to what I thought the lube locker was.
Really, if the orange on the LL were 3 times as thick, or even twice, I'd have rolled with it. But they don't even raise higher than the surface they're on more than maybe a thousandth or 2.IMG_20251113_153335192_HDR.jpgIMG_20251113_153322579.jpg

This one is a the summit brand.

Chrissie drove it for the first time since back when it had the first version of the LS in it.
I had her stop and mash it.
I'm not sure but when it shifted it MIGHT have done the chatter again, but I can't tell for sure because she just happened to let off completely at the exact time it shifted. But whatever happened the dash shook like before, once, hard.
She did it once before that, a few blocks back and every felt normal, good shift, and a tire chirp.
She stayed in it through the shift that time though.

Looks like we're gonna get about a foot of snow starting next Friday.
So I have one week to play with this and hope I don't fubar the trans it has in it lol.
If it does... :dunno: oh well. It's the old style anyway, and I'd probably get another 2005 or so as a backup.

I'm trying to come up with a good place to take it that I could tow it home from fast and easy if it came to that.
I want to tear some more tread off the rear tires so I feel better about swapping them out over the winter lol.
If it goes well, and the trans holds up, maybe I'll teach Chrissie how to use the fun button and let her do a burnout:thinking:. That could be cool to film :waytogo:

I am not in a hurry but I will be parting out a 2003 2wd avalanche with the 8.1 and 4l80e.

Oil leak is definitely a hose weeping.
Guess I need to find better than evil energy lol.
I'll replace both of them at the same time this winter. May even hard line some of it.

And , now I have an antifreeze line leaking too lol.
Ain't one thing, it's another, I guess. IMG_20251125_121947003.jpg

Tomorrow is the last day of use I get out of this. Going to snow a bunch on Friday/Sat.
So body work to commence finally.

Need to find and get some rockers and a passenger rear door at some point.
For now I'll get what I do have available done.

I've done a few of the Fragola ones now. Don't seem bad. Probably do new fittings and all when I build the new lines. Just so it all matches brand.
Probably going to hit up Heath when get what I need figured out. Like mentioned, I'd like to go hard line from the side of the pan forward. Just to get past the cross member. Then bend them up towards the filter so I only have short soft lines. Right now they're like 3'-3.5' long :doah:

Earls and Fragola are both good, Fragola is a better price for a quality USA made product. Earls is hit or miss with the USA made, those are the two I use the most.

There's also Russell, XRP, Aeroquip, etc.

I don't use the off brands or rebranded stuff because of quality issues, time is money and leaks are annoying at best and very dangerous at worst.

If this one was worse it'd dump all my oil on the road and leave me stranded. If I even caught the oil pressure drop before it started knocking.
Could have been bad. Hence why I want to hard line as much as possible. Leaving enough hose just for motor mount flex.

No, it's a ways above that.
It IS touching the cross member, and the steering box, which keep it from getting down far enough to get to the steering bar.

And even in those places it's not rubbed through the outer braiding layer .

Appears to be coming out of the side up hereScreenshot_20251125-221853~2.jpg

It has begun!

I'm getting way too good at taking the motor and now transmission out of this thing.
Did this by myself in just the last few hrs screwing around lol.
There really isn't much to taking it out.IMG_20251210_183502747_HDR.jpgIMG_20251210_183544798_HDR.jpg

I was messing with this, kicking a ball with Kaz, and occasionally dancing to songs with him. Alternating back and forth, and still got it out in no time.

Also.... Got a visual image of why I can't get burnouts out of this thing.
That's a regular size soccer ball in the tire contact patch.

Between that and posi traction, with 3500+# on that axle....

Repetition creates efficiency!
Now get that 8.1/4L80 from Isaam and put that LSX where it belongs…in the Cutlass!
