M-1028 cucv?

The thing I was tryin to buy the other day was the doodad that mounts near the master cylinder. When I took the ford one back they found me a chevy one and it didnt look the same either. Not sure what to do about some of that stuff other than convert it all back to civilian parts as the old ones wear out. Anyhows it starts up good now so the rest Ill fool with later. For now im gonna start mounting my backup lights and backup alarm. Im guessin theres no switch on the trans to hook that stuff up to since the thing doesnt have backup lights on the body. I also got some 2/12" exhaust pipe to put on it. Still debateing which glass pack mufflers to go with and also I didnt convert the electrical system down to 12V its still 24V.

The original controller was a fire hazard. I'm betting you had the original one. There's a write up on this over on Steel Soldiers.

It ought to have backup lights. Yours don't work?

Just remember guys that the military only used 24v to start with. Every thing else is 12 volt. Ok the glow plug resistor I give you , but lights and things like that are 12v.

750-16s

Hey everyone the trucks still runnin pretty good. I had one of my tires get a chunk knocked out of it a few days ago though. But I finally found a set of 7.50-16LT D range tires for it on craigs list pretty cheap. They are firestones and they are cleated. Also they are american made...so they are kinda old. Everything I looked at in that size is made in china now and some in india. Even interco 750-16s according to the guy I talked to at national tire and wheel about tires in that size. but luckily I found the needle in the haystack. Figured Id put up a couple pics.

Logan, would you email those to me?? yellowk20 AT yahoo.com

Which date are they? I have the originals from the mid 80's but if you have a later copy (say the last from the 90's) I'd like a set too.

they are the ones from 86......

Yellow ill try and see if my email will send them......im going to have a hard time sending the 15MB 20 and 30 level ones though, cause hotmail only allows 10MB at a time......

Anybody wants these without sucking up Logan's bandwidth or time they (and a ton of other TSB's) are over on www.SteelSoldiers.com . It's where I got mine.

more parts and a new problem

Hey been workin on my truck some more. Finally got some backup lights in it. I went ahead and put box mounted tail and backup lights on it with a backup alarm. That thing really didnt have any backup lights or provisions for them. I used the boxes to save me from havin to cut more holes in the body. I ran the wires through the original tail light holes which are now covered by the boxes. The backup lights and alarm are now hooked up to a switch in the cab. The brake lights are hooked up to the existing wires that the old ones were hooked to. I also put a loud set of pipes on it. I used 2 1/2" dynomax ultra-flo welded mufflers with 2 1/2" pipe. Theyre nothin but an expensive straight through glass-pack but they will pass inspection unlike the bullet style ones. Alot of that also depends on the inspection man too. I just figured Id spend the extra money and play it safe. Ive also got a new problem with it. It starts up when its cold ya just gotta crank it a little bit but when its been runnin for a while like when I drive it to work and turn it off for a few hours and try to start it again it just cranks and cranks and wont start at all. Its done that the past two times Ive drove it. I had to use ether to start it. Figured it probly wouldnt blow my engine up as long as the WAIT light doesnt come on. Never heard of a diesel only wanting to start cold. Its usualy the other way around lol. If anyone has any ideas what would cause that to happen please let me know. This is a new one on me.
