M1009 Standard Shift Build(The Greatest Adventure)

$500 includes a locker too. You can't buy a ready to run axle AND put a locker in for $500. As far as rebuilding the brakes, drums are stupid cheap and easy. It'd probably cost ya $150 to do it and rear drums last forever. Also Look at the pics there are 2 sets of perches on that axle the perches might already be set up for you :dunno: You should ask him when he calls.

Locker...or Gov-Lok?

I know a lot of people that have good luck with the powertrax lock rite, but you should know they like to act more like a spool than a detroit

Do you think the price is right?

I'd certainly try and lowball it a bit. With the locker, it's not too far out on the limb. You're looking for an axle that can be somewhat tough to find around here (6 lug specific). Although the gear ratio is less than desireable for most buyers, it may be exactly what you need.

I'd work the "crappy gear ratio" and "needs complete rear brakes" angle and try not to pay more than $400. I could see it being worth that with the locker, the gear ratio you want, the lug pattern, and it's already pulled.

I would definitely want to pull the cover for visual inspection before buying.

That means my tires will squeek lots around tight corners? I'm ok with that. I'm not ok with one wheel not spinning when I'm trying to get up something.

Just ran in to this blazer at the army base workshop. My buddy's doing some work to his jk.

It's wicked clean.

Yup! ^^^^^ Exactly what I was thinking. Work the crappy ratio and bad brakes to get him down some. The locker alone is about $450 and he knows that so don't pay a dime more than that.

Open diffs need momentum to be effective while locked rigs can crawl and that's where you're diesel will shine :waytogo:

Brian currently runs a lock right and I used to. Didnt have any problems with mine but it takes a little getting used to especially slow in speed parking lots (ya know mall crawling :screwy: )

The lockrite in my brother in laws 4runner would lock & unlock at high way speeds and is sketchy in bad weather and my buddy Dan's bronco never unlocks. With that said I'd rock it:thumb: I run automatic lockers front and rear

Traded in the blazer for a bronco today and did some real offroading!

Umm... Those are Mule Deer. :D

BIG Muleys!
Nice pics, took me a long time to read this whole thread..

Thanks. They do not look quite like deer by me. I ate some elk here in a burger the other day so I did some quick addition.

Hmm Phantom Canyon and shelf road, sounds like not too far from Canon City.

They both run between Canon city and Cripple Creek/Victor. They are very easy roads to drive, but the scenery is spectacular. Only Shelf Road requires a little ground clearance. There were some fun spots to play off of Shelf Road too.

The deer you see in Mass are Whitetails, smaller body, smaller antlers than Mule deer. Elk are 1000 to 1200lbs, have very large swept back antlers and are a brown and dark brown color. Now that I have made myself sound like a knowitall..... Please resume posting your awesome travel pics!!!

Thanks. I did some googling and now I think I have it straight. I saw no elk and lots of mule deer:whistle: I counted 11 to be precise.
