Steering wheel is awesome! Having the tilt function is great.
Wound up driving the rig out to Central City with the Lincoln crew for Jeep Jam last month and drove it back with no issues. Cruised right along at 65 the whole way and got decent mileage! Only issue that happened was when i found a deep hole on the river and then wipers wouldn't shut off, but just pulled the fuse and the next day they were working like normal.
Rig has sat in my garage since then because on the drive home from CC, it wouldn't start after we stopped for food. Jumped it from the rear battery and it fired right up, but i didn't leave any of the lights or anything on, so not sure what happened there. Been busy the past couple weeks, so hadn't had time to change fluids, but went to do it this weekend and now it wont fire off. Turn the key and just hear the starter relay click. Both batteries have 12.6 volts, but the red supply wire at the starter relay only reads 12.6 volts, and the purple wire going to the starter reads 12.6 volts when i turn the key, but shouldn't it be sending 24 volts to the starter? May be a dumb question.....
Seems like a good time to convert it to 12v and not have to worry about that crap.

Crank is probably broken. I wouldn't investigate it, just 8.1 swap it.

Yeah, my dumba** forgot it was converted to 12V - would explain why none of the wiring made sense while i was troubleshooting and thinking it was 24V 
pulled the starter and bench tested it and neither the solenoid nor the motor would work. Cracked it open and it was rusted and corroded AF inside. That would probably be my problem

Sounds like form what i read on steel soldiers website that getting the ACDelco one i have rebuilt or rebuilding it myself is the best option, but that would be about $190 and truck would be down for a bit until i could get the parts and time to rebuild it. Also heard mixed reviews on a $220 Ultima starter from O'reillys, but that comes with a lifetime warranty. Was thinking about just going the route of the Ultima starter and if it sh*ts the bed too soon, get my money back and go with a rebuild kit. Thoughts?

I have done that a lot, if the parts are corroded but still good that should work.

I just ended up throwing the Ultima one from O'reilly's in it since it has the lifetime warranty. Fired right up and haven't had any issues. Only weird thing is that the Delco starter didn't have any shims with it, but this one sounds like it may need one. Weird thing was that it says it's for a manual trans, but it looks identical to the Delco starter. Wondering if maybe it was listed wrong on the website?

The one listed for an automatic didn't have as large of an opening where the gear slides forward to mesh with the flywheel though. Am i missing something?

As for shims, rebuilt units sometimes need shims, never needed any with new starters, and yes now I only buy new not rebuilt, price difference is negligible and life expectancy is triple
