Michelin/Military xl 11.00/16

So you could rock crawl with no pressure in the tires..... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif How very interesting. Well thats good to know. Thanks for the pic!

The guy I saw that ran one in a buggy took his cores out of the rear and had 2 psi up front.

The tread is very hard though, and IMO they don't grip too well, but with a little bit of work, they'll take you anywhere. Jason's mog is really light so he has an especially rough time, but he made a climb that I couldn't make. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Do they make them for a 15" rim??
This may be the tire that I am looking for since I want a good offroad performer but at the same time wear good on the road. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

no 15's that im aware of
the video on my webpage shows me pulling a full size bronco on 32' TSL's and a TJ on 33's TSL's tied TOGETHER and both stuck to the axles.neither helps me get them out the hole. i keep dragging them as the bronco stands on his brakes, and the TJ puts his in drive

i pulled them with 105hp 286tq and 4.56 gears, with an nv4500 in SECOND and np205. the xl's were aired down to 10psi.

i dont know of a muddier test of tires....

download the various versions of the movie

11.00r16
as the aspect ratio is not shown it is 100%
11.00 is the section width in inches
so hieght would be 11.00 + 11.00 + 16 = 38

they make XLs in a small enough size for the LandRover guys, never saw the sidewall close enough to read

I have a set of 9.00r16 being retreaded in M70 right now

so anyone know about those goodyear at2a on the stazworks website, so if i can get some of those michelins for a 15 in rim im gonna get em. im doing cucv style bumpers too but not a military theme funny. it sounds like even at higher speed use they will outwear most other tires, seems like those groundhawg guys might like theese to.

Who all is running these on the street in the Michelin XL 12.5r20's. I can get a pretty good deal on some 20's if the tires are worth running on the street and trail. How heavy are these tires? I need some reccomendations whether they are good or bad. I could go with the 325-85-16's but the 20's would be the ticket. /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

Pardon my ignorance, but what is iirc and is that 103.00 a tire. Where is the cheapest place to find them on the east coast cause I'm sure shipping would be killer on those bad boys.

iirc= if i recall correctly.

no the tire weighs 103lbs EACH and thats w/o a rim. it may have been 95. i weiged some tractor tires at the same time and dont remember which was which

As posted earlier in the thread I ran this tire on a 89K5. The tire weighs 94lbs by itself. I was running them with some Stazworks single beadlocks and that combo was 174 lbs. I was very impressed with them and would defenitely run them again. I'm looking for some in the 16" flavor for another truck I have now.

Here is a pic of one next to a 38.5x14.50/16.5 TSL/SX.

bringing this one back up again...so who all is running (and have teseted) the 38x11s on various terraian and how did they do..im thinking about selling off the boggers and getting a set of theese..

I think they do alright. I like them for overall street/trail use. I don't think they are the best, but not the worst either. I've grooved mine and they did okay in Moab. I'm still waiting to run them a while longer. I'm interested to see how they do in the snow this winter.

I do like running them with beadlocks so I can air them down on the trail. I run less than 10psi.

I drove down the interstate to and from Blazer Bash running around 70mph issues.

The only concern I have with a couple of mine is their age. That's one of the things to watch with these tires. There's a date code on them, but I can't remember right now how it works. There's a thread on Pirate.

At this point I don't think it has made any difference. It's one of those things that's so subjective though. You'd about have to try the same obstacle twice with the same tires.

If I had a choice, I'd still rather get some Iroks. However there are 2 things that give me pause:
  1. The XLs are cheap relative to other 38" tires
  2. I question if the Iroks will give me the same road worthiness.

I'd like to try out a few more trails, yet. I plan on getting at least one more season out of these. Pretty good considering I paid $250 for 6 tires.

Plus the XLs lend to the whole "General" name/theme. I know, I'm a dork.

im deffinitley thinking about it for 2 reasons..i can sell my boggers and still have some money left over for some beadlock wheels for them...and i dont have to widen my trailer 8 inches to make the truck fit on it..
