Miles Per Gallon

85 blazer 10/12bolt 3.73 35x12.50 th400/208 TBI 350 with a 600 CFM edelbrock, port and polished heads, LZ1 springs, one piece stainless steel valves, edelbrock intake and timing gears, pete jackson pistons, headman headers, 3 inch dual exhaust, roughly 375 horses. 8 MPG in town havnt used a full tank on the freeway yet.

I have 350/700R4/4.56's with 35's and my speedo was re-calibrated and around town i get on average about 9mpg. I did recently take a trip down to Pismo and at 75mph i got 11mpg and this is on an engine with 230k original miles.

Lets hear some numbers from people who have had their speedo re-calibrated after their gear and tire swap. :deal:

77 350 with factory aluminum intake, headers. th350 tranny, 203 transfer case. 10b f/r with im guessing 3.08's and 38's. Speedo didnt work so im guessing i got about 5-6 mpg. But tranny gave out cause of a bad rebuild and the 3.08 gears. So blazer has sat for a month now as i pile up the parts for 1 ton.

Unless I'm missing your point who cares if it's recalibrated? I mapquested a distance when driving to Pismo then took that exact route and I know how much fuel my saddle tanks will hold and calculated it that way. Was there something in particular you were looking for or just more accurate than my way?

yes actually, I think he meant a way that actually measured miles traveled per gallon of gas..... you know using gauges and instruments to collect data that could be used to form a conclusion based on facts...... that damn scientific method is a killer sometimes :doah:

So your way was found on the internet.... it must be true:rolleyes:

Doing a mapquest does not really help you since i've found the mapquest mileage to be bogus most of the time. Now if you do absolutely know an actual distance to somewhere then you can do it your way and be accurate but that's assuming that the distance you know was accurately figured out. So with this being said there is only one accurate way to figure mileage and that is to have your speedo calibrated then fill your tank and drive a bunch of miles then re-fuel and calculate mileage.

Ok, I was sure you had a reason.
