Oh, I think we've all come a long way since Scott started helping us along.

God I KNEW that was gonna come back to haunt me!

Now, to be precise, I *know* the difference, but didn't think I owned one ... my background is woodworking, my dad's big on it, but never touched metal ... so I've been buying tools as I needed them.

The really stupid part is that I did in fact have a little ballpeen out in the shed, but it wasn't with the other hammers so I forgot about it.

But hey, I have a nice one now, just like you Greg!

Maybe we should change Scott's user ID to "Ballpeen"?

Ok folks. This build thread has finally come to an end. I finished up the 496 stroker this evening and bolted it to the engine cradle i made and also bolted the 502 to a cradle as well. The engines are now sitting in the back of my buddies Dodge 3500 heading for New Hampshire.

Also thought i would take one last pic of 1400HP and 1750 ft. lbs. of torque.

What happened to the 502 that it needed a rebuild? Greg just wanted to freshen it up while he was doing other work to his blazer?

Greg bought the 502 last year and got it cheaper than the guy was asking because it ended up needing some work. Basically all it got was a freshen up along with a new bump stick. The 496 was a complete build though.

How the heck did you lift those engines into the truck with all that plastic wrap around them? I hope there are some sort of chain attachment points on the engine cradles.....

Looks nice Scott! That 355 has some serious bling coming off the heads in that photo also...

Well Greg, after i wrapped the engines i just wrapped my arms around them (one at a time of course) and lifted them into the truck then slid them to the back.

Seriously, once they arrive you'll be cutting LOTS of wrap off in order to hook up your chain. I put them in the truck then wrapped them and slid them into place and tied them down.

2011.01.07 - UPDATE! - PASSING THE TORCH....!!!!

Hard to believe that this thread had vanished into obscurity, and I feel guilty for never actually getting any final installation photos or video to share with you guys. Life happens, and the 'Burb that this engine was built for was sold off a number of months ago.

Fortunately, the torch has been passed to a fellow CK5'er by the name of NorCal69.... and as of this afternoon, this engine project is on it's way back to a warmer climate to be finished up, and dropped between the framerails of a classic Chevy truck!

I'll let Mike decide if he wants to continue things along in this thread, or start his own when the engine arrives... but I think we can all agree that seeing this engine RUN is long overdue!!!

In a wonderful twist of fate, Scott (4X4HIGH) has agreed to get involved with the engine project again to oversee the final details and to get it fired up and properly broken-in. It seems only fitting that he should be able to finally see the results of all of his efforts and meticulous assembly work.

I want to say thanks again for the passing of the torch and all of the help along the way.

I think that it would only be right to keep this thread going as so many people have been involved here.

This thread needs that final video of this beast running for the first time.

Although it will take me some time to get the rest of the parts required to make it complete, it will happen.

Any suggestions and help along the way would be appreciated.
