MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

:woot:
If I had a tuber.... It would be registered as a diesel K5....

As mentioned though if you get in a bad wreck ever you need to have it at least look like what it is.

It both is a win and sucks that my buggy looks like a fj40.. But the plan worked because anyone who isn't a wheeler says nice jeep.

Homebuilt and ins is a pain, I took the easy way out. The law as far as I have read it does not say how much of the orginal vehicle must be there. I certainly would not bother using a new title or a k5title on a buggy though when jeep is so synonymous with off road vehicles. Worst worst case scenario you let a lawyer argue your case if your on the hook for big dollars.

I see junk cj5s for under 800 here from time to time, buy one, part it out and and keep the title. Use the jeep before you part it if you need a level one inspection or if it comes from out of state. In az out of state cars need a slight inspection..hence why I want one from here. Just one less headache

Got links mocked up with PVC then cut and started building. Lowers are 2x.25 HT chromo with 1.25 joints and the uppers are 1.5x.25 dom with 7/8 joints. My old steering setup will restrict up travel 1.5-2" depending on castor so selling that stuff and looking at Sky's Offroad one if they can make me a set for my solid knuckles. Will finish rear truss now that I got it all mocked up and get rear axle finished up and get shocks in the next week hopefully.

Make it to Wyoming and I'll take ya out for a ride when I get it going.

Got rear axle slung under today. Shock brackets next. I had Kert make me a pinion guard that was flat across top so I could make plate to tie into truss.

Seeing them axle gussets reminds me of something when I was 16.

Im not sure if your familiar with race 4wheelers, but I got a new handlebar from TAG. Its the kind without the crossbar in the middle and the big square headpad covering the mounts.

The rep from TAG says to me "If you bend these, I assure you you wont be riding for awhile"... Well needless to say, I didnt ride for 6mo and still really dont anymore after I bent them.... and they were bent less than a 1/2in down on one side..........

Them axles give me the same impression. Really enjoy the build, and love the new buggy. Hope it comes together soon.

looking real nice Matt, I'm envious!

Sheep are a MT thing. I thought Wyoming was prairie dogs and speed goats. Can't forget oil fields also.

Check suspension clearances, got engine stabbed, and little kid shoes on now that I know tires clear everything ok. Has 10" under belly at bump, 18" under belly & 6'4" at roof at ride height, and 25.5" under belly at droop.
