MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

Most the wiring is done and been running engine getting fluids topped, etc. New autometer water temp gauge is dead out of the box so have to ship it in for waranty. Trying to keep the wiring and nice and clean as possible.

Lookin' great, Matt. :waytogo:

How long before you get out and beat her a bit?

Thank you. I have ran it a little up on the trailer (have it sitting on the lowboy in the shop so it can stay warm inside and I can work on it every morning and evening without it being in the way. Plus, I can't break my streak of working on a rig on a trailer now ) to get fluids topped and run transmission a little. I hope to run it around the yard at the shop some this weekend to test everything a little more and if all is well I'll put the big tires on and start on some skins.

Decided it was time to take the rollers off and play with the ORI pressure a little more and test drive it.

Ride-ish (Sitting about 1/2" high to accommodate for weight of skids, fuel, and gear):

And first time driving it out of the shop. One of the tailpipes is rattling against a tube where it exits, needs to do a quick adjustment.

After a little more investigation the rattle wasn't the tailpipe but rather the shoulder harness hook flopped behind the seat rattling on the rear panel. Probably should have had that on too for that stunt.

Its a little speckled in mud but that is why I came out to the shop at 6 this morning to finish charging shocks, change tires, then test drive it while the mud was still frozen. By 9 the ground was thawing and turning back to mud. Went ahead after a few test drives and checked all the suspension, steering, etc bolts for tightness.

Nice progress! Looks even better with the big boy tires.

been working on the skins and skids. Here is a shot of the hood. Not overly thrilled with the plastic skins as they expand/wrinkle with the heat. If they suck too bad I'll get some aluminum skins this summer. Side skin with finish washers and foot hole and a full set of skid liners plus a spare belly and engine skid liner out of a 4x8x.375 sheet of UHMW.

Nice progress, Matt. Hood looks killer in design. Too bad abut the wrinkles, tho. Hopefully they smooth out for ya with time.

Love the skids also. Been thinking about using the same thing under the '69. How much did the sheet cost ya, if you don't mind?

thank you. Best price I could find was on zorotool for $280 shipped after a coupon deal I found for that sheet.

Ran by the truck scale tonight. Overall weight minus tools and gear and only 5 gal fuel is 4400. Rear weight was 1900 so about 500 lbs front heavy. Probably a little less with full fuel and gear in the back but I was kinda aiming for a slightly front heavy from the get go. Would really like to ditch the recentered H1/43SX combo that weights 181lbs/corner. Not sure what a 40" crawler or the like on an aluminum raceline type beadlock would weigh but would have to be less. Other little things like my waranteed autometer water temp gauge showed up tonight so got in back in and hope to test it on some rock this weekend if the weather somewhat holds out.
