MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

I prefer them straight in case one strap fails the other isn't trying to pull the rig off the other way. When I haul excavator, dozer, etc I cross the chains but IMO this is better for straps.

Very cool. Really highlights how much of the suspension's travel range can be used just running down a seemingly smooth trail.

Went snow wheeling last weekend. Not much snow yet but still fun in 2wd and aired up.

Also never posted that I added a Rugged Radios intercom and radio. Have gotten most the club into getting handheld VHF radios and works much better.

What kind of VHF handheld radios are you all using?

the Beofang UV5r with upgraded antenna. They are $25 + $7-10 for antenna on amazon. First trip that everyone could talk to everyone without problem. Seems most guys with CBs never get a decent antenna and tune it and they never work very good.

something I still need in my truck before Moab next year!!!

Thanks for the info. I agree with the last sentence. Been thinking about getting at least a couple to share on trail runs and Blazer Bash.

I have 2 spare handhelds and a couple other friends bought a spare to loan out till we get everyone on board. Plus can use them in the towrigs when travelling which is nice. Going to take the CB out of my towrig and use a mounting bracket and extended battery with charging port to run on.
The intercom in the buggy is so nice. Can practically whisper to each other and cuts so much background noise. You take them off with the engine just idling and that seems loud.

Out playing in some dirt ravine areas last weekend

Also got a rear ORI that ever since it came back from ORI getting rebuilt into STX model it will leak oil from top into bottom chamber then lock it from going full extension. Twice now it would only show 12" chrome (16" shock) and I would vent the excess oil out of the bottom to get it to go full again. Now it is locking at 10" so it is coming off and going back again.

Norby,I mean those two things on either side of the fill cap on the rear diff?, now that I'm on my "PAD" it appears as though I've gone blind.
Is it two different breathers with some sort of ....
"early 70's Tupperware game to keep the kids busy while the women sell plastic wears?"

Probably way too above yer head.:D

They just look like caterpillar antennae and I though hey!!!!! All the better for crawling along. Sort of like adding stickers to get HP but those to add torque.

Lmao. Those are diff breathers. Instead of just running a line up these expand as they fill them the fluid goes back in as it cools.

Ok that's what I thought, no doubt invented by some kid who's mother used to sell Tupperware though,,, am I right? Lol

But why two, in case one gets clogged ,,, to create a balanced atmosphere! That it isn't . Yup with the correct atmospheric pressure the alien WILL survive! Good god man do you know what you've done?:screwy::rotfl:

Well, when I was ordering the breathers it was more in shipping than the 2 breather bellows so I figured maybe order a spare in case one ever gets ripped off. When I was mocking up where to install them so they were directly in front of the ring gear and getting oil pumped into them I marked both sides to see what would work best then just decided to install them both too. Figured if road travelling the rear will get warmer and need more expansion possibly so I just went with it. Now if I do end up ripping one can easily plug it off without worry. Front has just one but is pretty protected tucked behind the steering cylinder mount.

On a side note my ORI got to them on Thursday at noon. Had an email on Friday at noon that it was completely rebuilt under warranty and shipped out. Top notch!
