I prefer them straight in case one strap fails the other isn't trying to pull the rig off the other way. When I haul excavator, dozer, etc I cross the chains but IMO this is better for straps.

What kind of VHF handheld radios are you all using?Also never posted that I added a Rugged Radios intercom and radio. Have gotten most the club into getting handheld VHF radios and works much better.
Thanks for the info. I agree with the last sentence. Been thinking about getting at least a couple to share on trail runs and Blazer Bash.the Beofang UV5r with upgraded antenna. They are $25 + $7-10 for antenna on amazon. First trip that everyone could talk to everyone without problem. Seems most guys with CBs never get a decent antenna and tune it and they never work very good.
