MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

A few new things, swapped the shifter mount to the taller GoatBuilt mount with cup holders. Shifter being up more definitely feels better. Also added the bags from PRP that GoatBuilt spec'd out for the chassis.
Did some wheeling in the Black Hills, SD. No breakage but after running captain crunch I plan on making some other changes now along with making the rig into a station wagon this winter.
Here is some GoPro video from SD. Some of it is just extra footage to show some friends the overall terrain and not super action filled.

Nice! Can't wait to see it in person at Blazer Bash.... :deal:

Would be fun to come join you guys again with the buggy now. Just looked it up and that weekend my folks are coming up to visit so no go this year. Once the boy gets a little order will start doing more big trips again.

Hey Matt, what GPS are you running?
Its a Galaxy 7 tablet that I mostly use Back Country Navigator app that allows you to download various types of maps (imagery, topo, etc) for offline use. I have also used PDF Maps app for using official Forest Service/BLM maps on. I also run Torque Pro app on it in conjunction with a bluetooth OBD2 dongle to view engine data and gps speedometer and I also have the tablet tied into my intercom system so I can use it to play music through it. Really for a $70 ebay tablet, $20 in some apps, and a $30 RAM mount its a pretty nice setup with a decently large screen compared to my old Garmin handheld I used to use.

Changed the front brakes to the 3/4 ton variety via the TMR brackets. They weren't sure if they would fit with the Solid knuckles but they have a mile of clearance. Brake pedal feel much better, reduced the travel by half so I can adjust it back down closer to the firewall again. Brakes feel good too from just driving around the yard. I weighed all the brake components as I did it and this is what I cam up with (weights are per side):
Oiriginal dana 60 parts-
Used Rotor: 24 lbs
Caliper w/ pads: 19 lbs
Mounting bracket: 9 lbs

New 3/4 ton setup-
New rotor: 18 lbs
Caliper w/ pads: 10 lbs
TMR bracket: 3 lbs

So an overall weight savings of about 42 lbs off the front axle and 12lbs of rotating weight loss.

i had to grind the knuckles a little originally to clear the banjo bolt on the 60 calipers but here is a before picture:

Can you remember if you had to tap the hole for the speedway kit. I was planning on using that same kit for plumbing all of my brakes when my tons go under and I know a lot of those reman calipers are metric thread. Were yours standard? How are the nylon line and those fittings holding up? Do the brakes feel mushy after awhile?

I have the speedway kit and I also found some heavier duty black line that has a higher working PSI that I'm using. I have a mix of both lines (forgot to factor in the steering brake when I ordered the black line)...my pedal has been great so far and held up in Moab. no line failures and enough pressure to blow out a wheel cylinder on one of my rear discs. Iv'e got an electric line lock and it holding fine so far also. Getting adapters to fit the master cylinder was an issue. My rear calipers were metric. I farted around with trying to get metric fittings that fit without luck. I finally said screw it and just threaded the standard ones in there. They've been fine. I also ended up modifying some stainless banjo fittings on my front discs to get the hose fittings to work. Its working as intended but my big concern is line toughness. there's lots of sticks/trees/brush up here where I wheel and I just know those lines are gonna get torn off at some point. After talking to Chris from ORD and looking at his line setup I've decided I'm gonna order a set of custom lines from them and replace the speedway stuff. I'll feel alot better about running thru the brush then.
