About to change the motor mounts in my 72, anybody have any tips or tricks? (these are the early style mounts not the squarebody clam-shell style)

Are they giving you any particular trouble?

I fought a few sets on my 72. One time had a 2x4 on the floor jack to push on the fuel pump boss to rotate the block

couldn't agree more on the DIY, easy to drop pan, if you have to replace gasket on your oil pan. if you use poly motor mounts you should use poly trans mounts

Bought the Blazer with the drivers side broken. Haven't started to install yet just seeing if anything I should keep in mind before I start.

Buy Kert’s front crossmember and motor mounts. It’s a great kit for that area.
I would except that I plan on an LS swap down the road so going cheaper for the moment.

Yep, changing trans mount as well.

That's the one part I haven't had much trouble with in three or four times I'd had to remove the cross member. I have the energy suspension brand poly mounts and the hole in the cross member is pretty large so aside from the pita cross member its pretty strait forward. I will be changing to the Diy4x cmember this week though as I have to drop the pan again:surepal:

What is this plate under the motor mount for?

For the brace rods that go to the trans inspection/flexplate/ flywheel cover

Mine where missing, I added them back now my dampener doesn't look like it will hit cross member. Affects the tcase angle ever so slightly too.

Think I will run to the hardware store and get longer bolts then as the Energy suspension mounts are a little thicker.
