TX Move a car from Kenosha WI to Dallas

I'm still rocking flip flops. Just got to wear pants because damn skeeters bite your ankles.

Truer words never spoken. Way to old to wear shorts and way too lazy for grown up shoes.

Have the general trip plans.
  1. DFW to Johannesburg MI to drop off diesel project at the tuners
  2. Johannesburg to Kenosha taking scenic route around Lake MI
  3. Pick up tank in Kenosha
  4. Meet up with @beags86 & @campfire (if we get lucky, we can throw soccer balls @F.S.F.W ...since your truck doesn't run, he can Uber out there and meet us :sign29:)
  5. Haul ass home before I figure out how much I've spent on gas.
Only concerns...rumor is it gets cold up there. Do I need a winter set of flip flops?

When you coming? Still warm enough for sandals... But if its later in the year....

Thinking next Monday...I don't own an actual winter jacket and my shoe choices are dress shoes (work, funerals and all my sisters weddings), steel toe boots or flip flops which are the go to. Not really a "fashion" kinda soccer mom ( that's a friendly:flipoff11:to mr fishfwog)

It was 80 today, and with humidity it felt 90... Bring whatever light jacket you have for the mornings/nights, as it getting to 50 at night.
Might want them work boots for the morning hours.

But the heater in the truck works pretty forkin good...

I am a bit worried dropping the diesel off in northern MI. It's a BMW 335D with deletes, meth, upgraded exhaust and intercooler and regular good old fashion Z rated tires.
Plan is to drop it off, get the tune sorted out for the engine, trans and traction control & then fly back and drive it home.
When are snow tires mandatory? Never actually see a set, let alone used them.

When will it be done?

You will be fine. If you plan it right, and have a contingency plan in case there is snow when you come back

That's the million dollar question. Theoretically, should be ready mid/late Oct.
If the weather gets bad, I don't mind leaving it there until it's warm.

Typically, you should be good until mid December until the snow really starts doing anything.

It does get cold. On the North end of the lake we're seeing lows in the 40s. But it hasn't frozen yet, and the snow won't get bad for a while.

You'll be fine, January is a ways off yet.

So, the basic trip is planned. We're going to drive north, loop around Lake Michigan and go home.

Need to be in Johannesburg either Monday evening or Tuesday morning and Kenosha Tuesday afternoon.
Would like to meet up with some CK5's on the way.
@campfire & @beags86
Any suggestions on routes?
How are the tolls up there? Assuming they charge for the truck and charge by axle for the trailer...

Thx

So did my ex???
The Buick's I had were mostly black (couple had a silver accent on the side). Also had a handful of 79 10th Anv TA's, and a few 80 Indy Pace Car TA's.
I kept one of each at the house and rotated them as needed. She didn't pay much attention to the cars as long as there was 1 black, 1 grey and 1 white. They were just part of the Joe Dirt trilogy to her. Well I kept the "extra" cars at a buddies place and it worked flawlessly until she met his new girlfriend and she asked her why I had so many matching cars??? That was a long drive home.
So I am not the only one. Good.
I had 5 or 6 at the house and the rest were at mu buddy's house in the country.
Every once in a while I would get rid of a car and bring another I would say it was at my buddy's house.
Eventually I started getting rid of 2 for every one I got, and only got running cars. I am now at 5 running and registered and 10 projects.
Soon to drop 2 since I got the urban camo k5.

I got nothing for ya on routes, tolls, looks like your route might hit some tolls in Il, in, mi, and yes they hit you for each axle.

Toll is $2 per axle crossing Da Bridge. Otherwise you won't see any tolls on the Northern sections of your route.

I'm right where your path crosses the WI/MI border (Marinette/Peshtigo). If you make it this far on Monday I can show you around. If you come through on Tuesday I will try to sneak away from work over lunch break.

I have LOTS of route suggestions, depending on what you wanna see. I'll talk yer ear off worse than a travel agent. :haha:
