TX Move a car from Kenosha WI to Dallas

I'll be near your travels in WI, but am very busy this week and likely not able to meet up with anyone.

I assume you're happily on the road now. Are you coming through here tomorrow?

Are you eating cheese today?

No cheese but lots of whining!!!

Trailer brakes died so we headed through Indy instead of Chicago. Made it to the MI border around 2AM.
Took a nap. Woke up and started the truck up.
SES light on. Forking EGR is doing stupid things again. Gas mileage and power a bit down, sucks but livable (wonder if I can just unplug the electrical connection to the EGR for now. It just screws up when you first start it and it's warming up).

Dropped off the beemer to be tuned...went well. Guy doing the work has a mid 80's K30 that he's putting a Detroit Diesel & 10 speed into.
Pretty cool.

Headed farther north to the Mackinac Bridge. Beautiful area but beginning to get chilly for shorts & flip flops.
Once it got dark, rained like hell. Can't see squat and am low on gas. Seems the locals even leave the area after September. Nothing open.

If that wasn't bad enough, the electrical gremlins got serious. Damn sub-woofer is powering on and off constantly.
I can handle a rough idle, shitty gas mileage but jacked up tunes is the final straw. I may now hate my K3500 more than the beemer!

Stuck in Manistique, MI and no bar.
Time for an Xanax a nap!

Hopefully tomorrow is better. If not plans are to pick up the ambassador, drive the truck into the lake and go drinking.
Order isn't all that important at this time.

I waved, did you see me?
I thought that was you.

on a separate note...isn't Camp Crystal Lake somewhere in this area?:zombie19:

Sorry for the luck, but you drive a gmt400, you to know the electrical is going to shit the bed, but don't drive it in the lake! I would love to get my hands on that l29....

How the hell are you in someplace in Michigan without a bar?!?
I am not working tomorrow if you make it past Kenosha.

Big positive on this trip is I have never been this far north in MI.
Area is beautiful and the people are great.

@beags86 PM me or change your privacy settings.
Should pick the car up around 3 then headed south.
Would be nice to meet up.

@campfire if you're around, let me know.

And whatdayamean there's no bar in Manistique? :screwy:

There are bars everywhere. In that town there are even prison bars, too! ;)

The abandoned prision is kinda eerie.

That's not just seasonal. Aside from Kitch-iti-kipi & the lighthouse there aren't a lot of tourist traps there. It's kinda dead, like most of the peninsula.

A few miles before you rolled into town you passed an intersection with a gas station, welcome center, and hotel. All 3 are boarded up, but they still leave the signs out so people know what's missing. It's a good summary of the local tourism trade.

Found Tap21...

Prisons??? Should I go out and lock the truck?

You're fine. The prison is abandoned now.

Look up (45.966500, -86.243317), or head down to the corner of Pine and Maple streets. Last time I was there the doorway through the tall razor wire was casually propped open. You could walk right into the overgrown prison yard. It was creepy. Might be the only publicly accessible abandoned building I didn't want to explore.
