Moving a suburban across the country. (Just drove it)

trailer or dolly, but really I came here to ask why you are moving to Wyoming... you know it gets cold there right? lol

I wondered that myself. I watched "Longmire" on Netflix a while back and thought I want to go visit there, looks nice. except Absaroka County, too much crime there.

LOL.

I lived in Wyoming, we loved it (we want to move back) but I seen people move there and then move away in a month because they couldn't handle it.

what couldn't they handle about it? how's real estate prices? I live 35 miles outside of a major town now and 10 miles to the nearest grocery store in a smaller town. most people think I am an ass anyway so I am used to being alone.

The cold isn't any worse than the rest of the upper half of the country but combine it with the wind and it can be a brutal winter. Blizzards are for real here. If you don't like doing things outdoors then there is no reason to be here, if you like city stuff you will hate it. I like to 4 wheel, snowmobile and ski and I hate the general public so Wyoming works great for me.

as Wade said, cold for days on end, also unless your in a big town (laramie, Cheyenne, Casper) most people find the amenities lacking when you have to drive an average of an hour to the next small town or 2-3 hours to the next major city.

mostly its the winters, -20 below for weeks on end before the wind chill kicks in, also when the wind stops blowing everyone falls over lol. When I first got there I thought I had made a mistake, it was -20 and the power went out in the hotel 4 times in the first 3 days.

I'm not from the south, so i want out, i really dislike humidity and lack of public lands. We aren't really social people, so it's all good there.

Just for frame of reference. My shortbed stepside with 35s just barely fit on a Uhaul trailer. The straps actually had to go towards the center of the trailer. Wasn’t cheap either. About $800 for a one way from Jersey to Florida.
Good luck with the move.

Stupid question here... I understand the budget is tight to not get a trailer to do the haul, but what's it going to take to make the burb drive the way under its own power? Granted a BBC-powered burb isn't going to get great fuel mileage but is it possible it might be cheaper to get it running vs renting or buying a trailer?

The colds not bad at all. I prefer it. I don’t get the wind up here that they get down south. But compared to most places, it’s windy.

I have to drive 60 miles round trip if we want Big Macs, or something like that , into worland.

Walmart is a day trip into Cody. We plan for that. My nearest major hospital is in Billings

Twenty mile round trip to a good grocery store. We have one in town but it’s expensive.

Like hank said, if you don’t like outdoors stuff or have to have someplace to go all the time, you’re going to hate it.

I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.

Longmeyer was filmed in New Mexico. Wyoming doesn’t really look like that.

It pretty much looks like this
