Muddysub's Toyota crawler.

Looks like I need some bicycle parts. The brake lever seems like it should work fine. @bent72 what rpm does yours run at when you squeeze the throttle? Does it stop at a certain rpm or will it go wide open from the hand lever?

Sorry I was too lazy to post the link to the page.

I have it adjusted to run about 3200 on the hand throttle. On my previous build I set it for WOT and it tried to take flight by itself when I had the frame torqued.

This truck hasn't tried doing that yet, but haven't found the need for it to go full tilt boogie just yet either

If you don't want to use a click shifter you can use an old style friction shifter and not have to hold it.

I stocked up on a couple things the yota needed today, spare fuses, connectors, fluids, fire extinguisher, etc. I also installed a military surplus jerry can and mount in the bed. We're going wheeling tomorrow with some friends south of town. We're driving the Toyota there and back since it's close, 30mi of highway with half doors on the truck should be fun, haha! It's all fueled up and ready to rock, or lead us to an explosive vehicular death, wish us luck!

fuel economy is worse nut not by much. Power is a lot better if you build the engine to run on it. Propane has basically a 110-112 octane rating so you can build a high compression monster and it will run fine.

We had a great time today! It ran smooth down the highway and crawled really well. I had another mishap like I did up in sand hollow, it's narrower than I'm used to and I dropped the passenger rear tire into a big notch that I was straddling and I had a bit of a hard time driving out of it. Dragged the passenger side of the flatbed on the rocks again. While I was at it I managed to break one of my shifters off. The drivetrain moved enough to hit the floor with one of the shifters and broke it off. So I spent all day in 4.7:1. I pulled the shift tower and clicked it back into high range for the drive home.

So I assume you're going to be making some changes to the drivetrain mounts?

You didn't say how the new spring pack went.

I've thought about propane. Does it make as much power or get the same fuel economy as EFI?

one difference is mine are all trailer queens while you actually drive yours on the street. I generally wheel all weekend on a bottle and will take an extra with me in case I do run out.

if we were closer I have a 22R in my engine shed for a spare that still has the EFI on it, I don't know how much is there and how much is missing or if you could even get it to work on yours.

I really really dig your little rig, does good and you are able to drive it there and back on the closer wheeling trips.

some friends and I are planning on coming up for Trail Hero
