Muddysub's Toyota crawler.

I'm sure muddy sub knows where I'm talking about when I say I did it on that asphalt street right behind the Mormon church off burkholder. You can jump the undulations on the road. Don't think I caught air but fully unloaded and loaded the springs. Kids were having a blast. So was I.

Your last name start with an L?

Sure does. Loomis.
I was going to ask if you remember the K5 bounce from Mcds to Taco bell flower bed from way back, but wasn't sure if it was you.

little known fact. Toyota only made like 20 different keys for their vehicles in the 80s. The door lock and ignition tumblers on just about every 1980s Toyota are so worn down now, any Toyota key will fit/work in them. the car prowlers/thiefs out here will have big key rings full of toyota keys. we call them "jiggle keys"

Yeah I can start this one with a pocket knife. All you need is to turn the cylinder. I installed a battery kill switch over the weekend. Also, when I park it I put it in double low, I figure it might confuse and frustrate them if nothing else. Make em give up and walk away. I've never had any problems where I live, hell I never lock the doors on my work truck.

eye bolt on the floor or cage bar and a padlock/chain to the clutch pedal works wonders also. I've seen a chain to the floor and shifter work too...those are really good if you have to leave it on a trail head to hike somewhere.

I've seen the 2.5 and 5ton military vehicles do that.

we'll see if anything like that is even necessary, I imagine no steering wheel and no voltage should be plenty.

yeah, your prob good...Unfortunately most of the 4x4 Toyota thefts I've seen were for parts by other Toyota wheelers. Not trying to paint Toyota guys with a wide brush or anything. If I had an older Toyota it would have every known anti theft option including a nuclear deterrent.

I've been sick as a dog since Saturday but I managed to get a few things done over the weekend. The battery switch is hidden and mounted, the electric choke is operational, the wheel is installed, the battery is mounted, I cleaned up some more wiring and painted the half doors. My drop hitch showed up, I still need to add trailer wiring to the suburban by this weekend so I can take it all out for a test run. I'll also be adding a cb to the toy before the jamboree. I'm ready to wheel this thing dammit!

It's kind of ironic. My keys are seized into most of mine and her vehicles and not once has one even been tampered with hardly. Y'all take the tires off, remove the engine and someone still drives it off somehow.

I'm usually not concerned. Where I live, a locked door is all it takes to keep your shit safe, hell I never even lock my work truck. But rigs get stolen at KOH and similar events.

I'm chipping away at my "before Winter 4x4 Jamboree" list. Tonight I installed the CB radio and spare tire mount and fixed a fuel leak. Tomorrow I hope to get a 12V power outlet installed on the dash and check all the fluids. We leave Thursday afternoon for Hurricane UT.

Last weekend I got the trailer wiring installed on the Suburban and picked up the trailer from my dad. Sunday morning we headed out to Logandale trails just north of Las Vegas, about a 1.5hr drive from my house. The Suburban handled really well, trailer brakes would help but otherwise it went smoothly.

The toyota is fun off road, it feels like a Polaris RZR compared to the suburban. I really want to soften up the suspension and it needs hydro assist or full hydraulic steering. That front Detroit really fights you on the rocks. I was worried about stalling out with the Weber carb on there but it ran good. I stalled it a time or two but those were rookie mistakes. It'll take some getting used to but I'm gonna enjoy this.

If my ride was in wheeling condition I would come down for that
You'd really dig sand hollow, there are a lot of short trails there, you can hit a couple a day and drive your rig right back to camp by the reservoir. Trail Hero will be going again in October, that's an event worth checking out.
