Here it is, after decades I finally have my K5. It is a 1990 with a rebuilt 350 TBI, 700R4, and NP208 tcase. Still running on stock 10-bolts with 4.56 gears (well, in the back, front is different).

First order of business is to get the windows going up and down correctly and figure out how to get the tailgate glass to go down. That and cleaning it really well.

I also got new taillights today and ordered new side markers. I'm going to install them tonight. Tomorrow I am going to paint the grille black.

Also going to spray the bumpers with bedliner along with the top of the tailgate. Also debating spraying the center of the hood with bedliner. The hood and roof need paint anyway, so I think it might look cool and would save me a couple of bucks. Don't know, just an idea.

Put the new taillights on tonight, looks SOOOOOOOOO much better.

I'm also going to have a cage made over the back seat to protect my kids. Then my mom is going to sew a soft top for me. :)

Looking good man.

Contemplating the bedliner on the hood and the roof myself. Figure it'll be easy to do and longer lasting. Still, might look a bit funky, especially if it fades. Also wondering about heat retention with it on the hood.

If it's a 1990 it should have a NP241.

Oh, and the title says 1995 btw.

Just my opinion don't do the bedliner on the hood or the roof for that matter.

To make it look right it has to be way thin and then it doesn't have many of the nice things about bedliner.

Besides most of the DIY bedliners do fade after a couple years. Als is probably the best out there for that.

You might be able to get the paint matched at a paint store for the hood and just paint it

Don't know how I put 95. :haha:

I haven't looked at the t-case, but the guy I got it from said it has a rebuilt NP208 in it.

I'm going to paint the roof. On the hood the only part I am going to bedline is the center hump. I'm going to use Als' of course, so I'm not too worried about it fading or looking weird. :)

Oh, and I am going to have the exhaust redone on Monday. Not sure how far I'm going to go with it, I'd like to go from manifolds out, but might just end up putting a cat on it and redoing the tips. Right now there is no car and then a Flowmaster and then it dumps right along the frame by the axle straight out. It is ungodly loud, we took it for a trip last night and my son and I were literally yelling to talk . :haha:

Edit and then Advanced Options allows you to change the title.

Hrmmmm...1990 should have an electrical speedo going off of a signal and not a cable like a NP208 would use. Could be seller who didn't know **** about what they were saying or they actually changed the speedo out to an old style and installed the cable and all with the NP208...my money's on a 241. Should be a tag on it that says.

blazin, he used to be our Al's vendor.

I'd run the exhaust out the back sides in the factory locations. Need it as far away from you as possible. Also with it going straight out you can suck exhaust fumes in with the rear window down.

Awesome, fixed the title, thanks!

I'll check the t-case today. You are probably right.

I'm going to do the exhaust just like that. I absolutely HATE exhaust going out the back.

Welcome, one of my silly pet peeves.

241 would be better anyway.

I'm in Texas right now for work, and not trying to pick on Texans here, but EVERY V8 powered fullsize truck around here has dual tailpipes going straight out the back...

...and at least half of them look like **** due to the crappy job that was done or the abuse they've taken since then. Lame.

Dont have an up close picture of it, but I painted a strip of Herculiner down the center of my hood, must have been a carb fire at one point cuz the paint was all melted and chipped like it was. It hides it pretty good, and doesnt look too bad. I want a cowl hood anyways.

also check the flowmaster end plate for stamp pined in part # then search that on any parts site to find model #.

if its a 40 series then you might just wana change it now to min of a 50 series.

i had 40's on a crew cab and thay were under the cab and he resination was bad. swaped to a single 50 muffler and wow what a diffrence.

and good call on swapin gay black lights out .

and as staited 241 tcase with electric speedo . if speedo is off let me know i mod dracs to correct that cheep.

and nice power mirror option on that.

Here are some new crappy pics. I took the grille off and painted it semigloss black. Also put the new tallights on. :) I'll post better pics tomorrow after I wash and clean the truck.

OK, washed it and did a bunch of work to it today. I took the old passenger window motor out and replaced it with a new one, goes up and down like a champ now. Then I tackled the wiring to see why the rear window wouldn't go up and down. Turned out to be something goofed up in the wiring right at the tailgate. Ran a new wire that was about 2' long and now it goes up and down like a champ now!

Pics of how it sits now.

Tomorrow I am going to take it in to have a cat installed and the exhaust reworked a little bit.

I'm hoping to have mine look alot like this, it's a beefy look, but it's also very clean and sharp lookin at the same time and not too much. Looks great man:waytogo:

Looks SOOOOO much better with the normal tail lights.

3"body, 4" suspension that I think has sagged. Tires are 35" bfg all terrains.
