My 5.3 swap thread!

Woot indeed! Hoping I can give it a test fire next weekend. I could do it today but i just don't think I will have enough time to adapt my exhaust and stuff.

Dang I should have warned you of that, I found out the hard way too but I was able to slide the motor forward enough to get it out, thanks to the slotted dirty ding motor mounts.

Congrats on getting the motor in. Its a good feeling isnt it.:waytogo:

Beto101, I already have a harness and computer but thanks though! Could help someone else out!

Teck, no big deal. And yes, it is a really good feeling! I go back to work tomorrow from x Mas break so i was really hoping i would at least have the time to get the engine in so that I could just fiddle with it in the mornings before work.

WIRING! Actually its going pretty good so far. I got rid of the tbi harness tonight. THere is still a few wires left over that go to the driver side that i have to figure out that i will probably be asking about here soon. Also mocked up the exhaust manifolds. The strange thing is that the passenger side clears super good but i might have trouble with the driver side! Anyway, you know me, on to the pics!

This goes to one of the injectors on the TBI setup. Wonder if this could be part of my problem? Screw it.

Scott, I had the idea long before you did beleive me! I just had to get the old fuel lines out of the way and stuff.

Brian, Yes you do!

So i just went out and checked on the drive side exhaust and sure enough i have a clearance issue. Super strange to me as everyone has said its the passenger side i need to watch out for. Anyway, it will be fine after i take a pie cut out of the down pipe. They also should both be pretty easy to adapt to the old exhaust.

Nice progress.
Damn, I think you are going to get yours running before mine.

LOL maybe, but on mine this is all im doing. You are doing 1000 other things also! Im sure that if all you were doing was a motor swap you would have yours done first. Im still surprising myself with the amount of progress i have made! Still a good amount to do but its dwindling down!

It's really been easier then I figured it would be.
Y'all don't want to know how much I've spent on my swap so far.
My problem is I don't give myself a budget to get it done for.
