My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

Exactly.... How do I not have exhaust?
I bet theres a giant crack in the block.

At any rate, its time to pull the headers, check there.
Then, continue onto the heads.
Then, probably pull it, attach it to a chain and use it as an anchor. :haha:

If its done for, its gonna sit for the next year,
until I can afford to finish paying Issaam for it (:haha:).
After that, I'm dropping it off at a shop for an LS motor.

Its 5 o'clock somehwere, ain't it?

Nope after I pushed 16psi though it and made 495 hp and 950 ft lbs of tq and got it hot too many times I sent it to the scrap pile and replaced it with a 100k mile vortec 454 I got for $300 and sold the heads and replaced them with 781 heads and kept on turning and burning.

valves are too tight... your always better too loose, than too tight... unlike a $2 ho...

leave them sloppy loose and see if it doesn't fire. You are adjusting off the bottom of the lifter. You sure it doesn't have a solid?

Its hydraulic for sure.

But, it doesnt matter, cuz you "VALVE" guys were right.
Just loosened the piss out of em.
Like, half a turn too loose.
Then, I bolted the Valve covers on and cranked it a half dozen times.

Sure enough... sputters and farts, cranks faster, and wants to start.
I guess it just needed to be treated like a dirty whore, and not like a text book example.

I cant thank you guys enough.
I really cant.

Now, back to startiing/timing... Whats a good starting point?
4* advanced, and go up?
Should I tighten the lifters first, lr get the timing right?

I have the dizzy dropped in at 12* initial, right now.

it's a common mistake.. they may be noisy when loose, but at least it'll run.. too tight f*cks sh*t all up..

I called it like 50 posts ago....

my big question is, after it's running tomorrow, does it have brakes yet? :doah: :haha:

he's gonna have to do it up against the house without the brakes like motorsickles do... :pimp:

:haha:

I'm letting it air out, atm.
Then, Im gonna get it started and deal with the coolant.
I'll put the gawdamned brakes in tomoro, if everything cooperates. :D

I was actually starting to get really pissed that I have $400 in brake parts,
just sitting on my work bench.

back on track, that's all that matters... you'll win in the end... :waytogo:
