My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

What is the gear ratio on that 5 lug 12 bolt?
Are you planning to change it?

What will the primary use be?

I imagine cruising with the occasional display of awesome power ; but will it be your daily driver?

I like this truck the more I see it.

Not sure yet.
Haven't cracked the diff, but have no problem doing a gear swap. :deal:
I need a Posi, which I don't think this has, yet. :dunno:

At first I wanted a bad a$$ street-rod, of a truck.
Dropped, with a lot of horses.

Now, I'm thinking more of a 'sleeper' for lack of a better term.
I like the "occasional awesome display of power" description. :pimp:

Just a stock-ish truck, with power.

I guess "grocery getter" is the term I'm looking for... :dunno:

I want it to have power, and be fun to cruise in.
Main uses will be cruising, and general 'truck' duty.
I really just need something I could use when my wife needs our DD Tundra.

Nothing too heavy in the bed, ever... Just transmissions, maybe a motor.
Kinda like a shop truck, if you worked at a Transmission shop for Hot Rods... :haha:

Just finished "organizing" the garage.
Read: "I moved a bunch of sh*t around."

Now, I have a little easier access to stuff.

Gotta get the wheels off, and over to Dan for mounting.
Maybe balancing, not sure if he's doing that or not. :dunno:

That 700 has to come out, as well.
At least there's no linkages attached.
Just unbolt and pull. :D

My "ProComp HP, complete overhaul Gasket Set" should be here today.
But, my BBC Rebuild guide won't be here till Thursday. :doah:
I wanna get through that before tackling this motor.

Drivetrain's out.
Electrical's out.
Wheels are off to be mounted and balanced.

Just waiting on bushings and all my Boxes to show up, now.

Motor will get a once-over, tomoro.
I hope ilike what I see... :pimp1:

I did a little test.

I washed the tailgate off with Mineral Spirits.
Then, I hit it with some Krylon Fusion Clearcoat. (Rattle can clear).

Only the tailgate is cleared, the body is still dirty.
I like it.

What? You don't like the "Tons of fun" bumper? :haha:

Some of us like diamondplate. If you're gonna take it off and go back to stock, lemme know. With a little tweaking it might fit my crewcab (the one that's on there is sorta whacked.)

To be honest, I kinda dig it.
It's beefy, but not too beefy.

Got these pretty lil thangs back... :D

And then, there's the motor....
I got this far before I had to leave.

Couple things Mike
If your concerned about losing low end torque dont run a high stall convertor
That thumper cam will make good low end compared with the stock cam and if you throw a 26-2800 stall at it you would be getting into the powerband of the thumper by then
This aint no tow truck or is it?
On clearcoating the patina...any rust or bare metal will be a compromise for longevity clearcoat needs proper prep but in the spirit of keeping patina and not creating it clearing over cleaned up and a light scuff would work ok
I would go with a satin or flat to keep it more patina fresh
