My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

Gutted all the Factory electrical, today.
Glad I did....

Almost every wire had a split somewhere.
Some worse than others.
A few probably would've started fires, eventually.

Glad I'm not depending on 43 year old wiring. :waytogo:

Yea...i have a nice lil rat nest of wires under my dash :doah:

I've been slowly trying To get mine fixed as well. My truck was saved from a junkyard and I believe it was hotwired at some point. The harness was chopped at the ignition switch and I've had to redo that already. Should have just replaced the under dash harness. Would've been easier.

It amazes me some of the things previous owner will do to wiring in a vehicle! You look at it and wonder "Why did they do that?!"

Yep.... Like leaving 7 hot leads, smashed between the jute pad and the floor pan. :doah:
(in the Beast)

Sh*t... I drove the Beast for THREE YEARS with the front axle Breather tube attached to a vacuum port... :haha:

I had NO CLUE...

The PO had attached it to one on accident.
It was smashed in between the motor and frame, So I never saw the connection.
I also always detached the breathertube at the axle. :dunno:

When I pulled the motor... I was like WTF!? :doah:

I have looked at my old fixes and thought the same thing.
I've made some pretty bad ones.... I'm not gonna lie. :doah: :haha:
Live and learn, I guess.

This reduces friction in the front axle and improves fuel economy :surepal:

Or maybe it keeps the vacuum lines lubricated inside? :D

But yeah, I know your pain. My crewcab had an HEI dizzy installed when I got it. The power wire on it went to the original points power wire, which has a big fat resistor in line with it. You didn't know an HEI would run with 7 volts, did you? :doah:Doesn't run real WELL, mind you, but it ran...

That is true, I do look back on things I've done with vehicles and thought "WTF was I thinking?" :haha:

Just took out the manual pedal assembly, and 1/2 ton Brake Booster & Master Cylinder.
Automatic pedal assembly, and 1-ton Brake Booster & Master Cylinder are going in.

HydroBoost comes later, after I get all my Rear Disk Brake Stuff.

My connectors are looking pretty bad, too. I'm thinking I may just go with one of the complete harnesses. I know it's a couple hundred more bucks, but I want to do this once and be done.

By the way.
If you decide you want to make it 8 lug let me know before I toss the front suspension.
The rear will be easy enough to find.

some inspiration...it's only a 383...:pimp:

Those Rally's with that rear bumper is a no bueno, IMO.

Cool to see it come along though.
