My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

I'm in love, btw... :D

if i were building this truck, i would put a posi in the rear, so its less harsh than a locker, and i would put 3.73s :thumb:

Just put it into a calculator and youd be just under 3100 rpms doing 65. I think thats liveable. But thats just me, do as you wish :woot:

With the bbc torque... Id go 3.48s.... With those tires. IMO 3100 rpms for highway cruising is a little high. But thats just me.

I don't think the odometer has an adjustment.
I'll deal with all that later. :dunno:

I was refer in to the really bad gas mileage on the old truck . If the speedo is not right how do you get accurate mpg's? It's really no big deal.

Oh....l was just going off what the factory gauge said.
I guess on 37's that goes out the window. :dunno:

But, from Sacramento to Sand Mountain, Nv., I got 6-7 MPG based on the factory fuel gauge, versus miles traveled.

That's neither here, no there.
That truck was f*cked off.

Bad wheel bearings, dragging brakes, death wobble, and running rich....
That'll get you some chitty MPG's...

if it were me:

With that Big Block I'd go with the 3:08's...you'll have more than enough torque to spin 'em up...

and I'd go with a posi...a locker would just be unnecessarily harsh and cause unnecessary wear & tear on the rear end & drive train.

I would put whatever gear put me where I wanted the motor to be for the 1/4 mile.

That said I have done some 3.73s for guys with big blocks and if they don't cruise em a ton on the highway ( most tires around 26" tall) they like it.

If they cruise a ton on the highway the 3.08s are what is liked without an OD trans

I also like LS on a hot rod like this. If I were to put a locker in one it would be an ARB or zip and it would be because I was going to drag race it

I'm noticing that, with a BB and small tires, it's either OD, or 3.08's....
That seems to be the running theme.

I'll try the 3.08s.... For now.
But have a feeling I'll want to be on 3.73's... :D

If you end up wanting the 373 after driving it I have those for you.
Too bad I gave away the Eaton LS that I had.

The license plate is firmly secured to the A/C duct thing.
The Deck is screwed to the plate.

I'm gonna run an mp3 adapter to the factory stamped hole.
Then, drill a small hole in the glove box cover, and install an input audio jack.

I only ever use an iPod.
So, I'll be covering the whole setup (hiding it) with a custom made glovebox insert.
Sould be invisible when I'm done.

I'm also putting the speakers in the doors.
They'll be far back, and covered by the seat, with the doors closed.
It shouldn't appear to have any audio equipment at all. :pimp:

So.... What's a quality brand of Header Wrap? :dunno:

There's eleventy-billion brands, and options.
What say the Hot-Rodder segment of the Brotherhood?
