My '70 C/10 - The Rat Bastard... [Won't Idle.]

can you explain the reason for the clear coat? You talking rattle can clear? Is this to keep the look, even with the rust, but to keep it from rusting MORE?
 
I too went with Matte clear over my bright red I had mixed up. At first I regretted it, now with it not as bright it doesnt show scratches or swirls like a clear clear coat would.

And he is preserving the Patina, instead of letting it rust out further. Kinda gives it that 40/50s nostalgia look to it. Its becoming very popular at Rat Rod and custom car shows I have noticed. Especially with 40/70s rides.

Nah... Sprayed from an HVLP.

I'm taking all the rust off the truck.
It's at that "just before pitting" stage, so it's coming off.
It'd be a shame to ruin the good sheetmetal, for a look.

The Scotch Brite makes it a very dull tone.
Almost Matte, but not really.

The matte Clearcoat really sets off the look. :pimp:

I love the look... But this thing would be Satin Black, if I had the money. :popcorn:

If not this one, then another.
This one has really cool paint, but I do want a Satin Black C/10. :pimp:

satin black is CHEAP to do..:dunno: I'm doing my kids whole blazer for a few hundred.
 
Satin could be had for cheap if you already have the HVLP gun. Its the tools that are expensive. I have maybe 100$ in my paint and clear. Now, its Rustolem hardware store paint, but with a quality clear coat. Its held up great and looks great as well. Now better quality basecoat paint would look much better, but this works well for a truck that gets beat on.

Let me explain: :pimp:

- When I do Satin Black, it's gonna be like high-end BMW's have... Perfection. Like Velvet.
- I'm NOT a body-man... So, the body shop bill would be SUBSTANTIAL.
- The paint would NOT be cheap... I'm talking high dollar, top-of-the-line.

The Satin truck would be a SHOW truck.... Maybe even a trailer queen. :dunno:
 
And, yes... I own all the QUALITY paint equipment I would need... Except a booth.
But,that's beside the point.

The kind of quality I'd want, puts you into "I'll pick it up when it's done" territory. :haha:

With this truck,if I was to ever repaint the factory "White/Gold/White",
I'd do it myself, in a makeshift booth, in my driveway... And,it would still be badass. :D
 
I guess it really doesnt matter what the paint looks like........ you wont be able to see it through the tire smokeburnout
 
I'm currently attempting to pay for the Lazy Bums membership....
He gets a Jeep and all of a sudden it's, "I can't afford GM site stuff, cuz I love PBB...."
