I found this gem on craigslist just before Thanksgiving, 6.2L 700R4 and 3.08s...shortly thereafter I found some 1 ton axles from a CUCV...put the two together, along with a shackle flip and new springs up front...oh and 37" tires on 16.5" beadlocks....

Those pics are about a month old...I need to get out and get some new ones maybe tomorrow.
I put in some Monstaliner to line the interior, the PO installed some seats from some other vehicle so my plan is to find some newer GM buckets at some point.
Slip yoke was junk...in process of getting that fixed along with re-tubing the rear 'shaft and balancing. A few odds and ends here and there, minor stuff mostly...

Nice rig, I like it. I'm diggin' the wheel/tire combo too. Are you on about a 4" lift? Do the 37's rub?

Thanks, they're from trailworthyfab...just the H1 12bolts, running 2" spacers to clear 'em. Forgot to add...they're some frickin HEAVY suckers...
Yeah, DIY4x flip n switch in the rear w/6" shackles and 4" springs up front...a bit taller than I had planned (w/the 37s, its 10" over stock!)
No rubbing yet, but I've only been able to drive it around the block, which is where the d-shaft reared its ugly head. BUT, now I know the front axle works :)

Thanks man!

Well got a lil bit done today...I wired up a couple of 10-ohm resistors to assist the glow plug warm up time (I have some Bosch DuraTerms that self regulate)...so 2, 1w 10ohm wired in parallel gave me about 5 more seconds of glow time. I wired it up with some connectors so now I can build a couple different "setups" and use them during different seasons, or just remove all-together and go back to the factory configuration. In the end, I'd like to wire up a smart black-box, where I can just select the glow time via a control panel...but this works for now :)

Also pickedup my "new" driveshaft at a local shop. These guys are friendly, and got me hooked up with a completely new 'shaft for a great price. If you're local to LR, hit me up via PM and I'll pass on their info. My factory slip-yoke was quite worn--these guys got me a new one along with new u-joints and everything. I tried it out today and no more driveline vibes :) Good stuff!!

During that same test drive I got the dreaded "death-wobble" so I'm going to go thru the front end again and see whats going on. She likes to pull right...but I did a test during an "emergency stop" and she stopped straight ahead...no clue really, so time to dig :) I'll probably get a new stabilizer (sure that has something to do with it) but I sure dont want to mask any problems...

I also adjusted the TV cable on the trans, about 1/4" out...shifts much better now; before it would hold 2nd gear for maybe 2 seconds under part throttle then kick to 3rd. Not so bueno...now its good, except for occasionally it will stick in 1st. Still gotta figure that one out.

Next on the list...
--Install the j-code intake I picked up last week
--new u-bolts up front
--fab up a new rear bumper with swing away tire carrier (maybe a swing away...not sure yet)
--and of course take her off the beaten path for a bit :)

A few pics I took today:

203 I found just up the road...Plan is to take this, and the 205, stick 'em together and have some fun!

205 I picked up from a member here...

Rear bumper I built up over a few weekends...needs a bit more work, but not terrible

Thanks guys, rear bumper is 3/16 steel...used angle iron for the top and cut the plates to make it look like a bumper. Needs a bit more reinforcement, work in progress :)

about how much monstaliner did you use? did you do the full tub or just the bed area?

i'm trying to figure out how much of this to buy for my blazer

I used a full gallon, though I only did one coat on the sides and 2 on the floors...full tub. If i did it over, I'd get 2 gals, and only mix about half of the 2nd one so you could also cover bumpers or rockers or whatever you had in mind.

" not terrible"??? I say that bumper is SWEET and even better that you made it yourself!! I gotta say that Monstaliner does look better than the Herculiner I used on my pans

Thanks man, it's still something I'm working on...mounted the carrier and got lots of movement, so gotta fab up some braces and such now.

I like the monstaliners texture, it's like a really thick paint and works great so far!

That is one Sweet Blazer! I have an '84 M1009 with the 37" MTs on custom 6 lug rims to match the axles and I can articulate those tires a LOT without any rub and without a lift. But I really like your setup a bit better! It's such a TOUGH looking ride, and that bumper looks incredible. I can't wait to see where all of this goes!

Do you not have fenders?
