My 86 K5 Build **wondering what's next**

Lol, yeah. Ended up pulling the exhaust manifold, again, to tighten up the lone injector leak. Just need to test it out now to ensure the leak is gone!

Serenity now, serenity now... :)

Ahhhhh, my favorite feeling, when my truck isnt acting like an angry X wife anymore.

Your not alone, I rebuilt my 205 today and put a shift fork in backwards and didnt realize it didnt have 4L on the front axle until I glued all the covers on.

Whew, leak is GONE! Well for now lol.

I think the PO torqued that sucker down welllll past the 19ft lbs called for in the TO. I had to put my weight into tightening it, so I'm gonna guess somewhere around 60ftlbs...eeeeek! Makes sense now though, I remember seeing the first couple of threads a little chewed up.

Back to work over the next few days so prob back on Monday...I'll get some pics of what we have thus far.

D'oh! Hate that feeling....such a let down!! :(

But look at it this way, you get the experience of removing, repairing, then reinstalling. At least that's what I tell myself :)

Okay, so some of you guys like pics :)
Install of the turbo itself is now complete...

Intake "fabbed" from some PVC pipe and an air filter I bought online for $15.

And the "good enough for now" crossover, 2-1/4" OEM xover from a GMT400, cut and tacked. BTW, the 6.5 and 6.2 have different size flanges, as I found...In the future I may endup bending a new xover from a single piece of tubing...but as I said, for now this will work

Looks good!

You probably know this, but get that air intake away from the engine bay. Ideally you want it poking through the front radiator support wall, getting cool, fresh air. Cold air = more power, less detonation. Hot air + turbo can cause major longevity problems.

niiiicccccceee:pimp:

those wheel bolts can double as zombie shredders :haha:

The most important part of any end of the world build is zombie shredders. They are a must have.

I like the wheels...well everything except the weight. Yikes!

Turbo is good, I need to get it out on the road and up to speed. Still working on the down pipe, right now it's sticking outside the frame rail under the passenger side.

Lol, who doesnt love picking up 300lbs of tire and wheel? :D

Btw, www.buchananmudfest.com They have a mudfest thing a couple times a year, thought you might be interested. May 4th is the next one. Its not just all mud either, as I remember thats not your favorite thing, got alot of stuff to climb, some trails. And some of the neatest stuff around. Not a terrible drive, hr and 10 or so. Let me know if you wana go, Me and about 15 or 20 to maybe 30 of us are going, its a real good time for 15$ entry and some gas plus a day.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to be out of town that week, but I might be able to make it back by Saturday and make it to the mudfest. I checked out the link, looks pretty cool!

The mudpit challenge is awesome to watch. Rarely have I seen in person 64in sprayer tires buried above the tires, but they have it there. There is a reward, which Im thinking was 1000$ cash, but I have never seen in collected, or heard of it being collected for that matter.

Its a real good time, I enjoy watching other people have fun as well, plus it gives the truck a breather. And there is something for everyone as well, from stock to 64in sprayer tires. So its a blast, and well worth it.

Subscribed. Looks like you are having fun with this. Should be a good drive line combo when you get it together.

You're keeping the AC? That is the coolest (no pun intended) part of this build.

Martin

Martin, that's the plan!

I broke the little plastic bracket on the blend door, so after getting that and some 134a should be good to go.

Still gotta fab up the exhaust, and I think I may end up getting the IP rebuilt
