My 86 K5 build

Well, I won't lie, I am freaking excited about this purchase....

Called Andy at Trail Worthy Fab and ordered some recentered H1 12 bolt rims with PVC inserts, standard rock rings, and pressed centers in bare steel. These things are so freaking sweet it's not even funny. I highly recommend Trail Worthy Fab to anyone. Andy is a great dude to work with (talked to him over the phone for about a half hour just picking his brain about his rims before my purchase). Rims shipped just a couple days after my order and look fantastic.

Anywho, here are a couple pics right after I took them out of the box:

Shot of the PVC's

And a rim broken down

I am gonna paint them up probably tomorrow and then get them mounted on my swampers (already have my tires seperated from my old rims, Discount tire did it for me for free :D)

The inner rim will be black, and the outer rim/rock ring will be red. I can't seem to help myself with this new red color :D

Gunna look good! I may switch my H1 wheels out for a set of these someday. I have already dented a couple of mine at Tuttle.

Are the press-in centers actually "pressed" in or are they welded in as well? I have H1 rims and was thinking of getting the press in centers from TWF.

Thanks.
Mike

Pressed means it is a dished shaped center that is welded in at a 3.5" back spacing. You can either choose pressed or flat centers, both are welded. I have read that pressed is a bit stronger

I love the rig man!!!! I'm anxious to see those wheels on the truck! Awesome build!

Thanks. They are not on the rig yet, but I guess you will have to settle for these pics:

Hmmm, paint :D

Installing PVC insert. I don't know why I have heard so many people say putting these in suck, they all went in freaking easy for me

Of course, the dawn dish soap and water could have helped

PVC in place (also added my airsoft BB's again...just cause)

One last pic. Kinda a crappy one, but all 4 are now mounted up. No air in them yet, so don't know if there are any leaks, but still pretty sweet :pimp:

I really like this build. This is eventually where I see my truck going, something very similar to yours. Keep it up man!

Looking good! How in the world did you get those pvc inserts in easily???? I still haven't done mine because of how much of a pain it was trying to just do one...

Nice. The color scheme is great.

Yeah, I think it should look pretty good when it's on

Look sweet! Get them on and take a pic.

That will probably wait until next weekend. My K5 is still at my dad's shop until we get wiring done, and he has the air tank there too.

Thanks dude :waytogo:

I had read that from so many people saying how much of a PITA it was to install them. But all I did was put some Dawn Dish soap in some water (more dish soap than water :D) and lube up a portion of the bead, and also lube up the PVC where it was going to slide in, just like my pics show. Then I just stepped down on the inside of the PVC and also lifted up on each side of the bead, and POP, it just slid in......that's what she said (sorry, couldn't help myself). Then just rotated the PVC until it was in place.

Don't know if that made any sense, but it really wasn't that bad at all. Now, I did try to install one without the dish soap, and I could see how it would really suck. Hope that helps

Well, did some wiring today with some buddies. Got the TBI motor to fire up :D, but it's running like shiz :doah:. We have some ideas as to what it might be (vacuum problems, and maybe a few sensors out), cause it doesn't want to idle and it's running really really rich. So I will be doing some research all this week to try and pinpoint what is going on. Nontheless, it was pretty cool to have it fire up!!

If anyone has some insite or some links to get me in the right direction, any input is appreciated.

Here are some quick teaser pic too with the new rims on there
