My 86 K5 build

Looks good

Outstanding that it ran good. Great pictures.

Glad all worked well on the shakedown run!!!

Thanks all. To be honest, I was expecting to have problems :haha:. So I was pleasantly surprised that everything ran so well. Now I will finish up my half doors, and start saving up for some tube for a rear bumper and cage. With my slightly pinched brake line in the rear too, I think it might be a good excuse to do a disc brake swap in the rear too

Finished up my half doors today. I stole these off my donor K5. They are not perfect at all, but will do for now. I really want a set of tube doors from DIY4x, just not in the cards for the time being. Since this was a free project, decided to give it a try.

But no really, those doors are kick a$$!!!!!
I need those or some tube doors.

Awesome half doors. I like them better than tubes. Keeps stuff from rolling out and keeps the jambs looking finished.

I did see one guy somewhere that put cup holders inside his half doors. Looked good and made sense. Just an idea

Digging the new bologna skins:D
What are those? 30x9.50's?

Haha, those are my pizza cutters. That's the only way I can get my rig in and out of my garage. I have my swampers against the wall. It does get pretty annoying having to swap tires everytime, but do what you gotta do, ya know

Ya, my brother actually just did that. He tried to convince me to do it, but I still have a functional center consul (spel??) that has cupholders in it that I use. Plus, that project got really annoying to me. I spent way too much time on something that will still get bashed up eventually. And I didn't want to add more time to the project by adding cupholders. But from my brothers pics, they do look pretty cool

Yeah I got a set of rollers too. Helps when moving anywhere really.

Just got myself addicted to your build. Subbed for sure! Awesome job on everything so far :waytogo:

The half doors

I've been wanting to do half doors like that since even before I had my K5, (I think I want the cup holder tho). Were they a PITA to fab?

I guess they were not that hard, just took a long time. And mine only look good from about 10 feet away. The closer you get, the crappier they look. But I didn't want to spend anymore time making them pretty when I know they are gonna get bashed up eventually. I guess they did turn out alright though

Man, I had to dig all the way to the 4th page to find this one:whistle:

Kinda quiet in here.....

Yeah, I usually don't like to update my threads until I have something really worth while to post. I feel like sometimes there is way to much talking in threads and not enough pics, and it kinda takes away from the thread cause they are hard to read through (or hard to filter through all the talking about nothing and find the actually tech/building)

With that being said, I haven't really done anything to it. Been trying to get my tow rig/DD back in good working order (96 K2500 with the 7.4 liter). I changed the fuel pressure regulator and now need to change the injectors, but they are freaking expensive. That and my wife and I want to purchase another car for a gas saver so I'm not driving the truck everyday, so that has taken up all the time. I did take the top off, so I guess I can post a pic of that

Small update. With the last outing I slightly pinched one of my brake lines. Then had a buddy who had 3/4 ton rotors, calipers, and pads that he sold me for dirt cheap. So figured it was as good of time as ever to do a disc brake swap. Brackets came from Ruffstuff, and my lines will be from ORD

Everything removed

Heavy drums with hub still attached. Ended up going to my dad's place who has a small press to removed the wheel studs and press them on the newer rotors. So glad to get rid of these drums

brackets installed

And everything hooked up except for brake lines

So still just waiting for my brake lines to show up from ORD. Hopefully early this week they will be here and I can install and bleed the system.

Hoping to get some wheeling in shortly, so hopefully will have some more pics.

Just finished the read through. Really nice rig man. I really like the way you have it set up.
