My 86 K5 build

Looks good sir!:waytogo:

Thanks. Swap really was freaking easy. Only took me about an hour to finish (excluding the travel time to my dad's place to use his HF press)

Just finished the read through. Really nice rig man. I really like the way you have it set up.

Thank you. I appreciate that :thumb:

Great progress :waytogo: and you will definitely love the discs in the back

Yeah, should be nicer for sure. Just waiting on my new brake lines from ORD. I ordered last Monday....so hoping they will be here today or tomorrow. Seems a little weird its taken so long since I live in the same state as them :dunno:

Update:

I finally got my brake lines in. That was a freaking crap shoot and took forever to get them, but whatever. I bled the whole system and they are working good

Then I got a start on a rear bumper. Have a good buddy who built a pretty sweet bumper a while ago for his K5, but didn't want it anymore. I really liked the center section, so I decided to give it a shot

Here is the original mocked up on my blazer

As you can see, it was a pretty sweet bumper, but wasn't exactly what I wanted. It was sticking out a little too far for my liking

So decided to cut off the wings

Trimmed down the frame to have it sit more flush with the body

Then capped the ends

Then just welded it straight to the frame

So this is not complete yet. I am planning on building some tubing off this in the near future. But it is nice to actually have some tow points on the rear now.

are you going to be up for a shake down run? THE TURD should be out of the axle shop this week .

I like the license plate protectors, you should see what my plates look like....

I am ready right now. We were actually thinking of doing a trail this Saturday. Were thinking maybe Eagle Rock, but up for anything. Next in August we will probably go run Chinaman again (love that trail). PM me and lets figure something out.

Yeah, it was a pretty cool bumper to start with and there are plate lights incorporated into those protectors...and they actually work :D. I just had something else in my mind of what I wanted. I can't wait to get some tubes built off it. Just been to busy to get it done. But a great platform to start from for sure.

Cool. I will let you know for sure. For this weekend, I would like to do eagle rock, or maybe even spring creek...but not the whole trail. Maybe just start on the Idaho springs side, go all the way to the rock garden and then turn back (sometimes I think that trail just drags on after the rock garden). But if you have another trail you would like to do to, I am all ears

Well, nevermind for this weekend. Some major things have come up on my tow rig that I have to take care of, and the only time I will have to do it is this weekend. My passenger front wheel bearing is shot....to the point that I am not comfortable driving on it any longer, so already have the part ordered. Plus I have to do breaks front and rear, and figure out my injector situation on it too.....things have really got in the way of wheeling this year.....it's really pissing me off :angry1:. So maybe in a few weeks we buck up and do chinaman over a weekend. I'll keep you updated

well crap ,china man sounds good in a couple weeks i will post picks of this weekends shake down i will find something close .good luck with all the repairs .and let me know

hows your truck fixing going checking in too see if you are ready to wheel ,i hit spring creek last saturday ,making some adjustments this week .

Over the weekend on my tow rig, I replaced my passenger front wheel hub, front pads, rear shoes and also both rear inner bearings/seals. Drained/replaced fluid in rear diff, and by the weekend my injectors should be replaced (a lot of freaking crap piled up at once).

Once that happens I am good to go. My K5 has been ready to go this whole time. This weekend I have to work, but the weekend after that I would like to maybe do the Chinaman run we have been talking about. What are you thinking?

how are you looking for this weekend

I feel like I keep doing this to you, but both my dad and brother couldn't do this weekend (dad out of town and brother doing hunter's safety with his kids), so I switched this Saturday at work with a co-worker, and we are planning next Saturday. I will have two weekends off work in a row, and I would like to do Chinaman next weekend, and possibly Eagle Rock (or something similar) the weekend after that. Do any of those work for you (or anyone else in the Denver, CO Springs, North CO areas)?

Looking good!! I like how you chopped a bit off the frame. I'm going to do the same thing to mine.

Sounds like the 9th is Chinaman. May do the weekend after that too (but that would be your weekend you couldn't do), but I want to make August my wheeling month :D. I want to wheel as much as I can for the rest of the summer

Thanks dude. Yeah, I didn't want to get too drastic with how much I chopped off. Just enough to get it to sit more flush. I think it turned out good
