back from the dead
well it has been about a year and what a year it has been.
My wife and I are expecting our first child and we couldn't be happier. Lots of baby prep and a 3rd seat planned for the S10 haha.
As for the s10, it has seen some changes since the Rubicon shake down.
Recap of that trip: right before leaving, I received a full set of Bilstien shocks (12s front: 10s rear) so Norcal Chris and I slapped those on and preceeded to the laundry list of stuff before the trip. Spent the day before departure in a mad dash to finish the small stuff and loaded up for a fun filled weekend. On the road, the truck did okay. It's no powerhouse so some of the larger climbs were anything but fun. Rolled into camp at 10ish and chose to wait till daylight before it's shakedown. On the trail, the truck did phenomenal until soul bowl. As the video shows, the limited slip in the d44, worn out slip on the front driveline, and the fact that my fenders did not get along with my tires, made for an interesting first experience. Needless to say, I had to get tugged off after my front driveline seperated. Slapped that back together and was on the trail in 2wd in no time. And I say 2wd due to a group member unlocking my hubs without my knowledge and proceeding without locking them in. Fixed that and again was on my way. Made our way to little sluice where I let the truck take a break while others played. Decided at that point that it was probably safer to head back to camp since I had to drive this thing back home. It was here on my way back that my front driver shock hoop tore off the frame, and my tcases decided to leak out its fluid. After cleaning that up, and removing the shock and hoop, we made it back to camp just in time to get a bite to eat before heading home. All in all, it was a great experience and gave me a list of mods to fix.
So after fixing the leak (rear outputseal) I focused on the front shocks. Oddly enough, the front procomp that were used to set the hoops up, had a shorter body length Tha. The Bilstien that replaced them. Not taking that into account, turns out that the bilstiens had been bottoming out and led to the hoop failure.
Solved that with a pair of towers and set them up for 14" bilstiens that I inherited from Chris when he went to coilovers.
Did a couple local orv runs after that and truck was doing great...until I pretzeled my rear driveline. Fixed that with some .188 wall dom.
Got some parts waiting for it now,
hydro parts, just need to get my astro box and tap it.
Installed a 24" light bar
I have a trip in 2 weeks planned with Chris so hopefully I will get more photos than the last one as my Co pilot on the previous trip did not like exiting the vehicle so photos were non existent
